About this deal

The Omaha series began more regular publication in 1986 through by Kitchen Sink Press, which published 20 issues through June 1994. However, in August 1988, Worley was injured in a car accident; the series' frequency slowed as a result of her recovery process. [4] In November 1991, Waller was diagnosed with colon cancer; two issues of Images of "Omaha" were published in 1992 to pay for Waller's medical expenses, featuring art and writing by several major comic creators. [4] In 1995, Waller and Worley ceased production of the series. [6] In 2002, Waller and Worley agreed to complete the story; Worley was diagnosed with lung cancer, and began chemotherapy and radiation treatments in that year. [4] On June 6, 2004, Worley died before completing the story; her husband, James Vance, began to edit and complete the final chapters. [4] Waller, Reed;Worley, Kate.October 2006. After that Reed and Kate and I would chat on the phone from time to time -- and with increased frequency during the time of Reed's illness, which occurred during, and delayed, the production of the stories in this comic. I thought I'd share it with you. This will be made available to the German buyers in a limited edition of 150. Or is it just 100. I'm not sure yet.

Waller: Well, we moved in together. "Bizarre Sex" #9 was out and I had another issue that I was trying to work on. I managed to get through that and I was working on the second issue and I ran into a problem. Kate said, you know this doesn't make any sense to me. She pointed to something and said why don't you just do it that way? That would be more logical. I said, "Do you want a job?" And that was it. It was just that obvious and that was it. She sat down and started writing it and that's the way it stayed. I ended my previous blog post about Omaha doubting whether I’d ever read this book, but I guess I changed my mind at some point, even though I have no recollection of doing so. I found this book while looking for Kitchen Sink books on my shelves, and my eyebrow went all *hmmmm*. Nothing about it seems familiar — I may even have bought it before I did that blog post, but then decided not to read it until after I’ve re-read the rest of the series, and by the time I did that, I’d forgotten I’d bought it. I wrote an afterword for the first of the benefit books -- it was an honour to be able to contribute, and in such sterling company. Reed got operated on and got well, and Omaha The Cat Dancer came out once more. Waller, Reed;Worley, Kate.April 2006. The Complete Omaha the Cat Dancer, volume3,Amerotica.ISBN: 1561634743.

Doing a project like "The Flower Chamber" is more like making a movie than a comic book. Set building and dressing, costumes, lighting, photographic direction. I used the creations of many talented modelers to make this possible. Everyone will be credited in the final book. All art rendered in Firefly from PoserPro 10. Waller, Reed;Worley, Kate.March 2008. The Complete Omaha the Cat Dancer, volume7,Amerotica.ISBN: 1561635278. The strip debuted in the funny animal magazine Vootie, and a number of underground comix in the late 1970s and early 1980s. "Omaha" the Cat Dancer became the subject of the eponymous comic book series, which was published from 1984 until 1993 through Kitchen Sink Press; it was relaunched by Fantagraphics Books until 1995. The final chapters of the strip's storyline were published in Sizzle magazine, beginning in 2006. Even my publisher was skeptical of what I wrote. Denis didn't believe there was a stretch of road in the mostly-flat Twin Cities with a cliff that a car could be forced off. We had to drive him out Hwy 169 (then County Road 18) on the way to Flying Cloud Airport to show him where it "actually" happened. As for influence, I think we're looking at the long game. I've heard from women in comics who cite Kate's work as a major inspiration for their own careers. Terry Moore has gone on record about how "Omaha" was an early touchstone when he was starting "Strangers in Paradise." The fact that "Omaha" could succeed so well for so long is an example for other creators who want to look outside the standard violence-or-comedy options that restrict creativity in comics. The fact that there's interest in ending the story after so long says a lot about its enduring quality -- and the number of foreign-language editions that have been published in the last couple of years tells me that its impact isn't just local. I think we're going to continue to see that influence, that legacy, for years to come in work that hasn't even been started yet.Waller, Reed; Worley, Kate (October 2005).
