About this deal

I bet you didn’t think that this list of free crochet sloth patterns would include a puppet! You can make story time more fun for babies and toddlers with the addition of an adorable crochet hand puppet. The design is similar to crochet amigurumi minus the stuffing. It calls for single and half double crochet stitches. Usually when people think of sloths they are envisioning the three toed sloth with the classic mask on the eyes and flat face. This realistic and fluffy sloth design is modeled after the Hoffmann’s Two-Toed Sloth (named after the German naturalist Karl Hoffmann). It looks like it’s made with faux fur yarn, but it’s actually just acrylic yarn that has been brushed out.

That’s right, you’ve guessed it! It’s the sloth. Sloths have a really low metabolic rate. They travel 41 yards per day, the equivalent of less than half the length of a football field, at a really slow pace. Pull ‘sloth-er one’! This year, the 24th of May marks the 23rd successful year for National Simultaneous Storytime. Children from all around the country will gather in homes, preschools, schools, bookshops and libraries to hear ‘The Speedy Sloth’ book being read aloud. What do you think? Isn’t it adorable? I love that she scurried away to her room and made these all by herself! Yay! Now you might be thinking, well how many sloth patterns could there be? Let me tell you, there was a surprising amount! The patterns I’ve curated for you today are sure to impress you with their variety, and with their cuteness too.Reading aloud is one of the most important things that educators and parents can do with kids. The benefits of reading aloud include building some crucial foundational skills, introducing new vocabulary, providing a fluent and expressive model of reading, and helping kids to find pleasure in reading. It seems like plant ownership has been enjoying a lot of spotlight lately. I see so many creative planters cross my feed – even crochet planters! This smiling sloth planter is just plain adorable. You can make it really easily with just single crochet stitches – it’s similar to how amigurumi is made.

When we listen to others reading aloud, we gain an appreciation for how a story has been written, and we become familiar with the book conventions. Reading aloud also helps children to understand that books tell stories, and they invite them into dialogue with the author. Super size your next stuffed animal project with these giant amigurumi sloths. Super bulky blanket yarn and a big ol’ crochet hook makes these snuggly sloths a perfectly huggable size at nearly 18 inches tall. The other benefit of blanket yarn is that it’s incredibly soft – oh so perfect for cuddling. We love the fact that all you need for this papercraft sloth bookmark is paper in different colors. So even if you’re running low on supplies like pipe cleaners or pompoms, it’s not at all a problem – just get out your collection of papers! You can also make a girl version of the sloth, by adding a little pink or red bow on the top! Is it too much to ask to want to be a sloth? I think I’d make an excellent sloth. Since I can’t actually be a sloth, or legally own a sloth, and my husband is pretty much against me keeping a secret sloth in our guest room, I guess I will just have to design, craft and create inspired by this primarily upside-down mammal! Sometimes I joke that my main hobby is hoarding yarn and collecting crochet hooks. So having a hook case would sure come in handy, especially for taking crochet projects on trips. This zippered case is made with just single and half double crochet stitches. It’s adorable and it’s practical too! Sloths live solitary lives. Their mode of transportation is to swing from tree to tree using the canopy vines. How adorable is this papercraft sloth bookmark? Perfect little DIY for kids of all ages to add some color and interest to their spring reading!

Cut out the shapes and glue on any features – in this case the sloth face/ eyes/ nose and the cat eyes/ nose You’d think that being so slow can prove to be a danger in the wild, where speed is of the essence when escaping from a predator. But sloths are pretty smart and spend most of their time in trees, so they are safe and don’t need to waste energy running! There are many fabluos sloth crafts for adults and sloth projects for kids out there. I had a good browse of the big wide web and brought together my favourite ones! Some come with free printable sloth templates, others, guide you through the step by steps needed to create your very own sloth! And of course, we have some Red Ted Art specials too! Sloths, sloths and more sloths! From printables to crafts, embroidery and sewing projects, these sloth crafts and DIY ideas are sure to make you smile! Sloths always appear to be smiling and for good reason. They live in the tropical rainforest, they sleep up to 10 hours at a time and can spend 90% of their time motionless. Sounds magical. Can I get an amen from the other moms out there?
