About this deal

You may think this book would be depressing, but despite the loss of some SHORT STRINGERS, it’s actually quite uplifting and hopeful. This story starts out with every living adult 22 years old and over, receiving a wooden box with a string inside. This indestructible string (and box), measures the span of your life. Therefore, the longer your string, the longer your life. People have gone into a panic. Some people continue on as normal, some choose to never even open their box. The media and politicians start to divide short-stringers and long-stringers. The country is divided, while others are growing closer together. Also, will there be ways in which we can switch our fate? As details emerge, it seems that the string represents how long you will live. Would you want to know? Or would you never open the box? What happens when those with short strings are prevented from doing certain things? Would you tell friends and loved ones how long your string is? The characters story’s were woven together very well. I thought that their reactions to the ‘new normal’ was conveyed in a very individual and believable way. The societal reactions/discriminations would’ve felt much less plausible if the past several years had not mirrored it so closely. In one of Amie’s early letters to Ben, she writes, “Since the strings arrived, so many of our conversations are about such big, heavy ideas, literally life and death. And I miss talking about the little things.”

One day, a little wooden box arrives for each person on the planet, no matter where they are. Inside is their name and a piece of string. It soon becomes clear that the length of the string stands for the length of their life. How will society cope with such knowledge? Will it ultimately strengthen bonds or break them apart?Sean is the facilitator of the short-stringer support group at the Connelly Academy. He is disabled and has a relatively long string. Katherine Rollins First of all, what a premise! I'm sure I'm not the only one who has ever thought to myself, I wonder how long I'll live. Well, this story takes that idea, expands it into a thought experiment, and just runs with it. And the result is absolutely fascinating, if not wholly unexpected.

These admin burden savings are minimum estimates and may not include the full impact of the reductions in admin burdens identified above, in cases where it has not been possible to quantify the savings. Section 31A sets the conditions for using the cash basis, setting the turnover restriction at section 31A(1), (2), and (3). Section 31B defines the ‘relevant maximum’ for the purposes of this turnover restriction. Maura heeded Nina's advice and joined a support group for short-stringers. The group met at the Connelly Academy, a private school located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Initially skeptical of the group, Maura soon developed relationships with her fellow group members.Placing The Measure at specific locations across Gielinor will spawn an elder chronicle, indicating the presence of an Elder God. Collecting one gives 50,000 Divination experience and there are four in total, adding up to 200,000 experience.

Over the months that followed, the strings became an increasing source of division in political and social arenas. These changes affected each of the character's ability to find happiness, purpose, and meaning. Then one day, a viral video promoting togetherness and unity birthed the Strung Together movement. The movement changed the cultural mood, and inspired newfound solidarity between disparate individuals.

Do you think the strings were intended to be used to make such precise measurements? If you received a string, would you rather know exactly what it means or have a vague idea of what it means? All over the world, people aged 22 years or older, are waking up to discover a wooden box waiting for them on their doorstep. The boxes are supposed to indicate how long the recipient has to live, depending on whether they receive a long string or a short one. Not surprisingly, panic ensues!
