The hybrid D-pad, on the other hand, aims to provide a middle-ground between the Xbox One controller's classic D-pad and theXbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2's changeable disc-shaped, faceted D-pad.What results is a kind of traditional D-pad, laid over a disc. On the surface, the Xbox Wireless Controller doesn't look like adrastic departure from its predecessor. It sports a similar shape and keeps the traditional button and trigger layout. On closer inspection, though, you begin to notice the subtle differences Microsoft has implemented. Alongside these cosmetic changes, the Xbox Wireless Controller brings functionality improvements too. We found this controller to be more responsive, which is likely down to the lower latency Microsoft has boasted about (paired with more frame rate stability of the Xbox Series X|S), while connecting the gamepad wirelessly via Bluetooth to a range of devices – including the Xbox One, an iPhone 13, and a Mac – was straightforward. Considering the amount of hands-on time controllers are subjected to it's possible that you'll find it hard to keep yours looking in tip-top condition for years to come.Other color variants of the controller are available though (you'll need to buy these separately, while a white version comes included with the Xbox Series S), and some may be less prone to scuffs. The white color tends to stain up, but it is pretty easy to clean. Also, I knew this would happen but I was willing to live with it, because I just love this white color. Go for any other color, if that's what you want. Note: the controller does not lose color or fade overtime, like so many others. In terms of performance and functionality, the controller is superb. It can connect to various different devices with different operating systems such as Macbooks, PCs, iPhones, Android smartphones and tablets. Thanks to the new system called Dynamic Latency Input, the controller delivers your button presses and everything else at a much higher speed than before to make your gameplay experience much more responsive and satisfying. Overall this is a great controller with everything an average (Or even above average) gamer could need.

Sometimes the controller disconnects itself. Note, that it has not happened once while I was in the middle of playing. Only when trying to connect one or more controllers (Official Xbox). Maybe a bug on Microsoft's part. Ever since the Xbox 360 days, Microsoft have always been a strong contender for the "Best Controller" title with their ergonomic and comfortable designs. The new Xbox controller is no exception in this regard and offers various little improvements over the already strong and reliable design of the previous generation's model. But make no mistake: While both Xbox and PlayStation have released next-gen controllers with their new consoles, only one of them truly feels "next-gen" enough and unfortunately, it's not the Xbox controller this time.
