There is a promise for mercy for those who are merciful to others. It is that simple. How much mercy do I need in my life? Do I need just a little, or a lot? And of course my answer is always... "I need as much mercy as I can get!" Thessalonians 1:7 And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. God's Holy Spirit is the very core of His being, just like our spirit is the very essence of our existence. It is amazing to think that He has entrusted us with His precious Holy Spirit. It amazes me to think that we could be the resting place for the living God. Submit to God. Give him your life and be about his will. As you follow him, you can count on opposition from satan. Learn to resist the devil, and he will flee.

God’s promises about answering prayer

Whether we’re on top of the world, or in the midst of trial, like King David in Psalm 119 we can call on God to fulfill His promises, “Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed.” Some people are blessed with good earthly fathers. Some are not. But our Father in heaven is a great Father. Romans 8:39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Samuel 7:28 Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant. God promises to give us everything we need in our daily lives. What’s more, He also calls us to show that love and care to others. One way you can show God’s kindness is by reaching out and sponsoring a child living in poverty.

Today's promise tells us that we belong to God and He delights to rest upon us. In the Old Testament, we read about the Holy Spirit coming upon people at certain times, but in the New Testament there is a whole new level of interaction with the Holy Spirit that we have a privilege of knowing. He lives in us. In John 14:23, Jesus said that not only will the Holy Spirit live in us, but Jesus and the Father would too! John 15:5 Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. If you have believed in Jesus then you have received the seal of the Holy Spirit. This means that you cannot lose the free gift that has been given to you.
