In 2018, Cypriot veterans won the right to claim damages over UK torture claims at court. Harding escalated his fight against EOKA organizing a series of operations in April–July [d] Harding also upgraded his intelligence network including the creation of the notorious X-platoon. [81] On May 10 the first two EOKA prisoners were hanged and Grivas responded with the execution of two British soldiers. [70] The British were concerned to counter EOKA's mountain units.
