Fitted with DAB+, DAB and FM tuners, the Roberts Blutune 300 is well equipped for tuning into a wide range of radio stations. DAB+ and DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) give you access to the widest range of stations, in crisp and clear digital sound quality. In case your favourite stations aren't available in DAB, the Blutune 300 is also equipped with an FM tuner. Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 28th November 2023. For more spirited listening or when the music is the main focus it’s not quite as good as something like a similarly priced standalone speaker. The bass on songs like Golden Brown by The Strangers has some presence but the other instruments seem less distinct. When listening to Even Flow by Pearl Jam the vocals come across fairly well but drum sounds like cymbals sound slightly flat. Ensure the CD player is empty before inserting a disc. If you cannot insert a disc, press the CD Eject button to remove the CD currently in the sound system.A restrained design only brings advantages if the dimensions of a device are not too expansive. And Roberts has done a very good job here as well. Thus, the BluTune 300 measures a very compact 360 mm x 135 mm x 260 mm. The weight of 4.2 kg is anything but light, but since this is not a mobile speaker anyway, this should bother the very few. Due to the comparatively small size, the radio’s fields of application are diverse. It can not only be used as a radio for the kitchen or nightstand. It is also pretty to look at in the living room. Whether the sound performance is also sufficient for the living room location, however, is something we want to clarify later. The color display is nice and sharp and doesn’t exaggerate with overly bright colors. Equipped with an equalizer, this radio enables users to tailor the sound to their preferences, ensuring an enjoyable listening experience. It supports two AAA batteries, allowing for extended playing time on the go. As well as sleep and snooze timers, the Blutune 300 gives you dual alarms, with the option of waking to the radio or a buzzer. Combined with the smartphone charger, this makes it ideal for bedside use. Your device will start charging, the charging indicator will show on the screen. Charging will be faster when your unit is in standby. If the charging indicator flashes it will have detected a non wireless charging device. However, you cannot expect more from an audio system in this compact size. The integrated equalizer allows you to adjust the sound to your taste. Thus, trebles, mids and basses can be adjusted here. If you don’t have that much tonal sensitivity, you can also select the predefined equalizer modes from Roberts.
The Roberts Radio Blutune is a elegant yet unassuming unit styled in charcoal grey with attractive rounded-out corners and a compact chassis. The supplied remote control is even more bijou – in fact it’s too small – but it gets the job done. Although we do think Roberts should consider a mobile app for these new Bluetooth enabled models. For example, you can select the appropriate source and then play around a bit in the equalizer or skip the next song. As an alternative to the control unit on the radio itself, you can also use the included remote control. This offers all the buttons that you can find on the radio itself. Anyone who wants to use the BluTune 300 in the living room will certainly be happy about this alternative. The sound quality It's a beautiful looking piece of kit in my (amateur!) judgement. It feels solid and well put together. Far too early to judge how long it will last in practice. It only arrived today! However, so did the review invitation, so here goes. Roberts Blutune Setup and Operation
If this is the first time the sound system is used a scan of the Band III DAB channels will be carried out. The control of the noble radio goes wonderfully simple from the hand. Anyone who has ever operated an audio device does not have to look in the manual to know which button has what meaning. Individual operating steps can be carried out in the interaction of the control unit and the easily recognizable display. Alternatively, the chic radio can also be controlled with the included remote control. Unfortunately, this doesn’t make as high-quality an impression as the radio. Charging your smartphone couldn’t be easier than with the Blutune 300. Simply place a Qi-charging compatible smartphone (or other compatible device) on the dedicated place on top of the system.
