[96] This is a real shame, because the concepts and the ideas he presents in both Moonight Bay novels are much better than both Odd Thomas and Koontz's Frankenstein. Over the course of the book, we find out why the children were taken and how it connects up with a serial killer and the strange past of Fort Wyvern. The book gets exciting right out of the gate, with dark wanderings in old buildings, troupes of killer monkeys, strange deaths, and the a fight in the night. From there on out, the book remains intense and lets up only rarely. It finally builds to a climax that really stands up there with the best I have read from Koontz.
