Cleverly designed to hold the coffee grounds of 10 of our capsules, once the EcoPress is full coffee grounds can be home composted or placed in your food waste bin. The Dualit EcoPress will only work with original Nespresso (or compatibles) aluminium pods; it doesn’t accept pods designed to be biodegradable or that are made of plastic. It isn’t compatible with Nespresso Vertuo capsules or capsules for rival pod systems, either. Performance Still, what’s remaining can easily be rinsed off, leaving a clean aluminium case that can be dropped into a recycling bin. I’d have thought that the Dualit EcoPress would require a degree of pressure to perform the action, but this wasn’t the case. A hard push is all that’s required to force the capsule inside out. According to Alupro, if a capsule is still full of coffee then the Eddy wouldn't be strong enough to capture it, but capsules could be captured and recycled as long as they have been 'EcoPressed'.' Dualit's solution is the EcoPress: a device that turns used pods inside out, pushing the coffee into the container below so the pod can be easily rinsed and recycled via your home collection bin. Which coffee pod brands are the most eco-friendly? - we investigate how easy it is to recycle used pods for different coffee machine systems such as Nespresso, Tassimo and Dolce Gusto In the main bin you’ll find the coffee grounds. On inspection, I found a few bits of aluminium from the base of the test capsules had dropped on occasion, but these are easy to fish out, with the coffee grounds emptied into a regular bin, food bin, or compost bin. Currently, customers are advised to recycle coffee pods via specialist collection schemes which aren’t always convenient, so the EcoPress will be welcomed by many. Once the coffee has been separated, users can put the remaining coffee in home compost bins, in kerbside food waste bins, or in their garden – using small quantities around plants*.Please note some larger products are delivered to kerb-side (the street outside your home), it is at the drivers discretion if they can deliver the item to another location on the property. Looking like a large coffee pod, the Dualit EcoPress is a big lump of plastic. It comes in two main parts: the lid lifts off to reveal a capsule holder and a bin beneath where the used coffee is collected.
