About this deal

For the coffee or tech uninitiated, it simplifies the baffling array of popular coffee drinks. In an impressively polite way that would please your Mom. Additionally, the Eletta Explore is a hot milk foam monster and makes more than successful coffee. In other words, I’ve awarded the Eletta Explore a high score because it’s convincing in the categories that really count. It’s extremely easy to navigate and contributes to the high-quality coffee brewing experience. Although experienced users may find it a little pedantic. However, this number does make sense. If you skimp on the ice, you’ll get rather lukewarm drinks that aren’t really fun. If you obey the Eletta Explore, the results are quite refreshing. The Eletta Explore can accommodate various types of coffee beans, including both whole beans and pre-ground coffee. Does the DeLonghi Eletta have a built-in grinder?

Preparing a drink with the Eletta Explore is about as easy as it gets. Simply select a drink icon from the touchscreen menu, then follow the instructions. You’ll see adjustable sliders for changing size and aroma, as well as a Brew button. Of course, if you want to go deeper, you’re able to adjust temperature, amount of milk and more. What is the adjustable spout, you may ask? Well, in a nutshell, it’s a part of the DeLonghi Eletta Explore that is responsible for pouring your coffee into your cup. And the more adjustable it is, the better for you.

But the real advantages of the DeLonghi Eletta Explorelie elsewhere: its personality encourages you to experiment, and the user interface is really well thought out. That means you can operate it comfortably without a smartphone.

Press the “To-Go” button and it will ask you if you want hot or cold drinks. Then, lift the little hatch in the drip tray to give you enough room to place your travel mug under the spout. You’ll be offered 8oz, 12oz, or 16oz versions of your favorite coffee to fit your mug. Easy as that. DeLonghi has tried to give the Eletta Explore a personality. Thankfully, we don’t have Marvin the paranoid espresso machine (a Hitchhiker’s reference for those less nerdy than me). The Explore earns its name by inviting you to become a barista at home and try out a wide variety of fully automatic coffee beans, recipes and settings. The machine delivers this invitation in a very personal (and cute) way. Whilst the grinder quality is excellent, it’s not the quietest out there. Similar to other DeLonghi machines, the noise is pretty high-pitched which drives my wife bananas as she’s a migraine sufferer. Having two separate carafes, one for hot and one for cold foam, is kind of annoying. But I understand why they’ve done it this way. If you only ever have milky espresso-based drinks at one temperature, it won’t bother you either. However, if you consider the range of features and the quality of coffee it produces, I’m sure the investment might be worth it. DeLonghi Eletta Explore Review – Verdict At almost half the price of the Eletta Explore, the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige is an incredibly good value espresso machine. It’s ideal for people not looking for a lot of features and are happy to forgo the cold foam technology. With a selection of 12 coffees, including all the cafe favorites, and 4 user profiles, there’s still something for everyone. The DeLonghi Eletta Explore is very easy to use. Although there are a dizzying array of coffee options, the machine is set up to help you through the process of choosing and making your coffee drinks. During my DeLonghi Eletta Explore review I used freshly roasted coffee beans. After a little experimentation, I found that a grinder setting of 5 out of 13 worked best. That said, if your beans are a few days out from the roast date, you’ll likely need to use a finer grind setting. I've tried tweaking settings like grind, temperature, and aroma, but despite my best efforts, the Eletta Explore keeps making bitter coffee. A grind size of one delivered the most drinkable results. This worked well for a few brews, but then the machine would stop midway through making a coffee, dispose of the beans, and tell me it couldn't finish my beverage. Pour one out for my wasted coffee beans.

presets: With over 50 presets to choose from, you can effortlessly create a variety of hot, cold, or even iced coffee recipes. Plus, the “cold” drinks are actually really good. But you do have to make sure you add enough iceto them. Since the coffee and milk aren’t actually cold, they rely on some dilution from the ice melting to get the balance right. But if you’re thinking you’d probably never use these features then the Cadorna Prestige is probably the better option as it is considerably cheaper. There is arguably no drop-off in espresso or milk quality either. The same applies to the hope of being able to enjoy the Eletta’s cold cappuccino. To make sure it’s really cold, you have to add ice cubes to the cup and attach the “cold carafe” (white lid) before brewing.
