About this deal

The lower average score of Hisense TVs just means your pool of models worth buying is smaller, but that doesn't mean there are none worth your money. It's alsoan excellent TV forgaming due to its very goodmotion handling, so there's very little blur behind fast-moving objects. It has HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on two of its HDMI ports, meaning it can take full advantage of the Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles and even high-end PCs with up to 4k @ 144Hz support. Finally, it has low input lag and supports every variable refresh rate (VRR)technology, ensuring a responsive, nearly tear-free gaming experience.

For Hisense to bump LG TVs, Panasonic TVs, Samsung TVs or Sony TVs out of the four top-selling brands, it needs high-scoring models in our tough lab tests. There’s a lot to say about U8H series, but the key takeaway is that Hisense provides great value here. While it doesn’t offer the same level of perfection as top OLED TVs, it bests them in terms of peak brightness, and the overall picture quality is great for the price. Add to that a fully loaded feature set, and the U8H is a TV option well worth consideration. Hisense U8H review: price and release date

Stress testing it with a 4K Blu-ray of 1917 and the Clear setting ekes out the most fluid and stable image. The Smooth and Standard settings are similar, the former causes stutter and produces noise/blur on the edges of moving objects. These are launch prices, too. As the months roll on, the prices drop as they do with TVs from all brands. So as the costs fall on LG and Samsung sets, they do with Hisense's, too. The Hisense TV also optimises fast-moving scenes, ensuring that no action moment is missed. Be it high-speed sports or high-stakes car chases, every detail is finely rendered in ultra-smooth motion images. Plus, the built-in 4K Resolution UHD AI Upscaler brings a near 4K effect on a 2K FHD video. As seen on the advert (Image: Costco) Enjoy spectacular performance and an elegant design with the 65A85HTUK. Offering eight million pixels, with a 3840 x 2160 screen resolution, this Hisense OLED TV will broadcast programmes in a new light. Watch sci-fi thrillers or enlightening documentaries in the highest 4K clarity, with motions so natural and details so sharp, you’ll feel more immersed than ever. The U8H’s coverage of DCI-P3, the color gamut used for mastering movies for digital cinema and 4K Blu-ray disc, was 97% when measured using Portrait Displays’ Calman color calibration software. And while we’ve logged higher coverage on sets like Sony’s A80K OLED, the Hisense’s performance here is impressive for budget TV.

Impressively, this TV has very good image processing, which is welcome for Hisense as that used to be a feature reserved for name brands such as LG and Sony. This makes it a cheaper home entertainment alternative to very expensive models from the two aforementioned brands, especially as it supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, as well as DTS advanced audio formats. Unfortunately, its viewing angle is disappointing, so it's not very well suited for a wide seating arrangement. All Applications and Materials are owned and/or licensed by and from Hisense or by and from third parties, as applicable, and may be protected by any Intellectual Property Rights and/or applicable laws. In the UK, Hisense has focused on building its presence in the value-added market, but with the A9H, it’s taking on the premium market with its flagship OLED. Where to start with this larger model? Build quality is just as solid as the 55-inch set, the bezel is slim enough to have minimal impact on the screen, and the V-shaped pedestal has a bigger footprint – even more so at this size.

It’s not without gremlins. The sample I had was prone to the bass dropping out (for reasons unknown). There was also odd distortion that I can’t pin down for sure but may be related to an HDMI handshake issue with a Panasonic 4K player. Both problems have calmed down over the review period. The speaker defaults to DTS Virtual:X out of the box, which is odd given the Atmos support. This deal is exclusive to Costco members from 16 October, as seen on their online offer. Secure your deal now and explore the extraordinary with the Hisense 65A85HTUK! Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) Watching a more familiar test disc for color, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, the psychedelic palette of the scenes that take place on Ego’s home planet were rendered in a clean, yet fully saturated way. The few human faces revealed natural-looking skin tones, and the U8H’s combination of powerful brightness and well-modulated contrast could be appreciated in the overall dynamic and vibrant quality of images.

Hisense is known for making low-cost TVs, but a low price doesn’t always mean a good value. With its powerful brightness and overall very good picture quality, strong feature set including wide-ranging support for next-gen gaming consoles, and affordable price, the U8H counts as an excellent overall value. Otherwise it's hard to say how Hisense TVs compare for sound technology - you really need to hear the speakers to see how they square up.
