About this deal

But the Micro Terror is quite limited in the sound you get. It’s a good sound, don’t get me wrong, but it basically only does that sound. If we talk about who it is good for (the newbies or the more professional ones), I must say that it is a good choice and beginners and pros alike.

For more info on the Orange Micro Dark Amp, see my review: Orange Micro Dark Review – Is It Micro Terror’s Evil Twin? When you compare the Orange Micro Terror against the Micro Dark there is no clear winner. It really depends on the individual guitar player, the kind of music each guitarist plays, and which guitar is plugged into the amp. Pair the Orange Micro Terror with a good-quality speaker cabinet, and you can do wonders with it. The volume is good for beginners and professionals alike. Sound Being 15 watt all tube makes it much louder than the hybrid 20 watt Micro. It’s also much less of a practice amp and more geared towards small gigs or studio use. There are three controls; shape, volume, and gain, which help the users to rapidly dial in the tone that they are seeking without much hassle. The Micro Terror features one preamp tube (12AX7) and a 20w Solid State output section. This hybrid combination of tube and transistor allows the Micro Terror to get the warmth and complexity of tube tube tone but with the weight reduction benefit of solid state technology. So you get the portability of orange's Crush range of solid states but with a tone closer to the awesome tube tone of the Tiny Terror. In terms of cons, the tone control is fairly basic , and only allows a certain level of tone shaping, but it does have a good range. In general, I keep it set between 11am and 1pm and find that going outside of this leads to very dark and muddy or ear-piercingly bright. Don’t be fooled by the size of this little monster. The Orange Micro Terror 20 watt head can fill a large-size room with glorious sound and easily cut through the mix or overpower an aggressive drummer. What also really needs mentioning is that the Micro Terror is LOUD. For such a tiny little thing it’s ridiculous how loud it can get.

Unlike most Orange amps the Micro Terror isn’t actually orange in color. Like it’s bigger brother the Tiny Terror it’s white, which might be a relief if you find the bright orange the majority of Orange amps come in a bit too much. The Micro Terror is made in China, along with most Orange amps. They moved most of their production to China a good number of years ago. Is the Orange Micro Terror a Tube Amp? This thirst for a unique logo that rapidly reminds people of the company led Cliff Cooper to name his corporation as the Orange.Orange Amplification's Micro Terror is their smallest Terror ever! Building on the winning recipe of the rest of the popular Terror series, the Micro Terror retains the beautiful unpretentious design, delivering a classic Orange sound way bigger than it looks, with a size and weight making it extremely portable.

The combo, more commonly known as the combo amplifier, has built-in speakers in them, whereas in the amp heads, there are no speakers. After the success of the Terror line of amps it seemed like everyone jumped on the lunchbox bandwagon. So the Micro Terror has a fair amount of competition in both its size and price range. Undoubtedly, size is the only thing that is small about this amp head because the job it does is truly comparable to a giant amp head. Here is a video on the Micro Terror from Orange, where Doug Doppler demos the amp played clean, with the gain turned up, and with an Analog Man ARDX20 delay pedal. The display is pretty straightforward, and a series effects loop is also given in the display, using which you can customize your favorite effects.

You will notice that the sound will echo more and more as you increase the amplifier’s volume, which is why the Micro Terror may not give you the best experience when used with headphones. Whether you are using it in your house, a stage, or in a studio, some of its features are needed everywhere, such as the effects loop and the combined headphone/recording output. This scaled down cab's 8" speaker delivers a punchy tone and sound that has to be heard to be believed. Like all Orange speaker cabs it is built to last using extremely rugged construction and manufacturing techniques and stands out from the crowd with Orange's legendary basket weave Tolex grill cloth, Orange crest and badge. Both the head and 1X8 cab are very light. The Micro Terror head is under 1KG and the cab is just over 4KG. It does not have a lot of knobs or potentiometers, which makes navigating the buttons and understanding the usage of the head more convenient. If you’re strictly a metal player then you’re best looking at the Micro Dark or elsewhere. Likewise if you play jazz then the Micro Terror isn’t for you. The body of the Micro Terror is very advanced, with stainless steel casing all over and with high-standard components. I modified my Fender Mustang 1 amp so that I could connect its speaker to the PPC108 cab and now the amp sounds even better! The sounds seems more rounded and complete somehow, so I recommend running it with two 8'' speakers if you can to get the perfect Orange sound.
