About this deal

We keep couples in mind when we teach. Everyone in the room has an important role to play. The techniques you learn will have you working together as a team, able to be calm, stay focused or to ask the questions you need to with a deep-seated confidence. When all of this in place, baby can be born into a gentle, loving environment, with both parents (or a birth partner) connected in the experience through the preparation they have done. My name is Sophie Fletcher, I’ve written a best selling hypnobirthing book and trained hundreds of hypnobirthing teachers. I am passionate about using hypnosis and mindfulness tools for birth. As a doula I’ve had the privilege of being at births and seeing what works and (what doesn’t). The tools in this class and in the online course are very carefully designed to be easy to learn but with maximum impact! Varner CA. (2015). Comparison of the Bradley Method and HypnoBirthing childbirth education classes. Hypnosis and mindfulness is fantastic birth preparation, but it’s also brilliant for the early days after your baby is born, and much more! A hypnobirthing class is now seen as really great addition to your antenatal preparation.

I stumbledupon hypnobirthing. Hypnosis would have never even crossed my mind (in fact I was really apprehensive) but I thought "what have I got to lose". why your body during birth is remarkably designed to birth your baby, setting patterns that can affect you and your baby for the rest of your life. What I learned blew me away. I trained as a hypnotherapist and introduced mindfulness to mycourse after attending a retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh. I have also witnessed the difference that mindfulness and hypnosis makes at different stages of pregnancy and birth. They are not the same, Understanding the subtle differences can make a huge difference to your clients and to how they feel after the birth. I have seen far more resilience in clients who use and understand these different approaches to birth as they allow flexibility.

I'm the bestselling author of 3 books, one of which is Mindful Hypnobirthing, and a hypnotherapist and doula with 15+ years experience. I created the Mindful Hypnobirthing method and published my book in 2014. A picture of me with my two little ones. I studied Sophie Fletcher’s Mindful Hypnobirthing ahead of my first birth; I credit my two very positive (although different) experiences to the techniques I now teach in my own classes.

Created by author and midwife Tracy Donegan, the GentleBirth app is a helpful tool for mums during pregnancy and labour. This informal CPD article ‘What is Hypnobirthing’ was provided by Emiliana Hall, founder of The Mindful Birth Group, an organisation offering training courses that equip professionals to support parents with unbiased, evidence-based information to help them on their birthing and postnatal journey.

How to use the tracks

Hypnobirthing may be right for moms who want a low-tech labor and delivery experience without epidurals for pain, an induction or a C-section.

A Mumsnet favourite, the book Hypnobirthing: Practical Ways to Make Your Birth Better by Siobhan Miller is the best hypnobirthing book to buy right now. It explores hypnobirthing, common myths and provides useful information to help women prepare for all kinds of childbirth. Every month I run a short CPD session on an aspect of hypnosis, mindfulness or running your business. In fact, HypnoBirthing may not include much information about different complications during pregnancy, interventions during birth, or other possible dangers. Its focus is primarily on relieving fears through relaxation and hypnosis.

The support doesn’t stop when the course is finished. You receive ongoing support throughout your whole pregnancy to really embed your hypnobirthing practice: I've trained midwives, peri-natal mental health specialists, doctors and doulas. I even teach mothers who have done hypnobirthing themselves and want to go on and teach it to others. you will learn and practice mindfulness and hypnobirthing exercises that connect mum and baby in a loving way using relaxation and breathing Hypnosis, visualization and deep relaxation techniques can take weeks or months to master. Moms-to-be and their partners attend small weekly group hypnobirthing classes where moms practice the techniques with their partners. Students may also be asked to practice the techniques at home every day leading up to their due dates. This class was founded in 2008. It’s based on evidence around attitudes, behaviour, and beliefs. Mindful hypnobirthing classes explore why there is a difference in women and how they birth, Naturally manage pain. If you’re looking for a med-free labor, hypnosis may help. In one 2013study, 46 out of 81 participants ( 51 percent) didn’t use any pain medication and reported their max pain level as just 5.8 on a 10 scale. Everyone in a class will be working with our perinatal mental health service. Conversations about sensitivity and confidentiality will be had with everyone attending, prior to workshop starting. Small classes If you have done the live training with me you are mentored, and supported and you get further access to continuing CPD. While similar to HypnoBirthing, this method has some key differences. It focuses on specific tactics to help with pain versus relying on simple relaxation techniques. These tactics include things like hypnotic compounding (repetition) and other “ medical grade” somnambulistic (sleepwalking) hypnosis techniques.
