About this deal

The Pioneer DDJ-RX is built for the road with a rugged metal chassis, in addition to this the unit offers high quality audio circuitry and offers standalone mixer functionality. But also you can set the unit into Midi mode for use as a “traditional” DJ controller with DJ software that can be mapped such as Traktor or VirtualDJ (great if you want to make the transition to Rekordbox gradually), and – my personal favourite – a highly useful brightness control for the display, so you can set it to be clear and easy to read in broad sunlight, while also so as not to dazzle you in a dark DJ booth. The XDJ-RX is not compatible with Serato DJ at the time of this writing. Now with the XDJ-RX, for the first time it’s possible to see how a beginner DJ could buy this as their first controller, learning how to DJ on it the “Pioneer” way, and so theoretically carry those skills right across into the pro DJ booth when ready with a minimal learning curve to adjust to. Since one of the issues people have with software / controller DJing is “but the club I want to play in has CDJs, and I don’t know how to use them!”, this could turn out to be significant. The new Pioneer DDJ-RX is the latest DJ controller to be released by the well known Pioneer DJ brand. The new controller has been exclusively designed to manage the new Pioneer Rekordbox DJ software. It is speedy, dependable and sounds excellent in any given environment. The new RX controller along with the Rekordbox software have been specially created for DJs who use or want to use the performance software on a laptop with a controller. As a result rather than having to take equipment to the venue, the library can easily be exported to a USB, enabling the DJ to use the industry standard equipment that is found in the majority of venues across the globe. I know it’s a lot ago ask for (the above 5 points) but let’s just start there and see what can be done/bought. If there isn’t a gear that will fulfill all those 5 points, let’s just start crossing out particular points and see what you come up with please.

I have a thing for Pioneer – no, I am not a snob. I mean I like the way Pioneer is made – I like it visually and quality wise. For example, as good as A&H and Rane’s gear is, I am not that convinced by their gear in that respect. I dunno…those LEDs on VUs are round instead of squred off and it all looks a bit like a toy. Now it is not a deal breaker how it looks or feels but let’s just say that I would prefer to have something made by Pioneer. Does the screen on this XDJ-RX resemble in any way the screen on XDJ-1000/CDJ-2000nxs ? I mean not quality wise but in terms of layout and graphics? I guess my question here is if the screens on these ‘players’ use the same OS. I just would like to know that if I am used to DJ on this and then go to a club where they have CDJ2000nxs (rekordbox compatible) if I feel 100% at home after plugging USB in terms of visual arrangement/system of the screen’s player

Features

Can you comment on sound quality please? Especially in comparison to top of the line and digital mixer from Pioneer i.e. DJM-900nxs(2) and some full analog mixers for example made by A&H (e.g. Xone43)? Another fresh new pioneer feature is the fantastic sequencing loop record control. The sequencing loop control means that creating loops on the fly has never been easier for on-the-move mixers. Experimental DJs can also enjoy the unique level of splicing made available with the 16 velocity sensitive pads. First Impressions / Setting up Based on the popular DDJ-SX Pioneer DJ’s first controller for the new Rekordbox DJ software has a lot to prove, it certainly looks the part, but can it deliver? First impressions and setting up On paper at least, the XDJ-RX is the first controller from Pioneer that has convincing answers to some of the big shortcomings people roll out when it comes to software DJing – and I’m not referring to the detractors who won’t give it a go, but those of us who’ve done it for years and still see things about it that aren’t perfect.

The controller’s layout mirrors the software’s GUI, giving you instinctive control of performance features including Hot Cues, Sampler, Slicer, Sound Colour FX, Beat FX, Beat Jump and Pad FX. Lastly (please forgive me for writing so much – I am just so passionate about it) I have this question: In other words I need something ultra versatile with the ability to get used to playing on Pioneer’s club standard without actually buying it.

Take control

Something fairly future proof – I would like my equipment to last a good a couple of years before it gets obsolete or I won’t have a possibility to expand it/make it up to date. The Pioneer DDJ-RX DJ Controller is designed with no quality compromised. At first glance it is similar to its big brother, the famous SX, however the DDJ-RX features new, superb components tailored to provide DJs with an intuitive rekordbox dj experience. Have the ability to learn at home, on this gear the rekordbox system/DJM CDJ club standard way of playing – so that when I go to DJ in a club I will not shit my pants 🙂 I already have a very powerful laptop (rMBP 15”) so I am not counting this cost at all – it’s there already
