About this deal

Please note: Failure to produce the card and relevant ID means we are unable to release goods on collection. At its heart sits Samsung’s latest Quantum Processor 4K, a powerful chipset that automatically adjusts the brightness and upscales the resolution of whatever content you’re watching to impressively detailed 4K. The Quantum Processor also optimises audio, regardless of source, to bring you an all-around more immersive experience. Importantly, there’s no One Connect box here, either. Instead all the connections are located at the rear right of the panel as you face the screen. However at least there’s a full complement of inputs, including four HDMI, three USB, twin terrestrial and satellite tuners, CI slot, optical digital input, auto cal connector, and LAN port for a wired connection (along with built-in WiFi and Apple AirPlay 2). Percentage luminance drop at 20 degree vertical angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output

The Samsung Q70 uses an identical smart TV platform to the other models in the QLED range, based around the Tizen-powered operating system. So you get the same launcher bar along the bottom as seen in previous years, and the useful second layer that provides easy access to other content (a feature that LG has copied on webOS this year). It almost goes without saying at this point that even the best sounding TV can be beaten for audio quality by a decent soundbar. But if you absolutely insist on using the built-in speakers, the Q70R is decent enough, with plenty of clarity and projection through the midrange. One thing's for sure: It certainly isn’t as bright, topping out at 800nits in its most accurate picture mode. However the tone mapping makes sure the peak highlights are delivered as accurately as possible. It also covers almost 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space, ensuring that the HDR images make full use of all those extra colours. The second set of numbers indicates the model series. The higher the number, the more premium the TV is. Three digits refer to 8K models, while two digits relate to 4K models. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) Samsung typically announces its upcoming flagship TVs at the annual CES conference in Las Vegas in January. It then takes a few months for these to actually appear online and in shops.

The QE65Q70BATXXUhas a Quantum 4K processor that makes navigating through the menus and smart features of this lovely set easy and fast as well as optimising the picture and sound to give you the best possible experience possible. Multitasking between apps, menus and settings is a breeze for the QE65Q70BATXXUas well as optimising the picture quality for omtimum viewing at all times. The final LED TVs in the lineup form the Crystal UHD range. There’s no quantum dot filter applied here, and these budget options only use basic LEDs to illuminate their panels. As a result, they’re not able to deliver the same level of picture performance as QLED or Neo QLED models but do cost a fair bit less than their stablemates.

These apps are made available via the best operating system in the business. Clearly laid out and snappy in use, it allows you to get to the content you want in no time. Switching to the 1080p Blu-ray of The Hateful Eight, the Q70R remains a very satisfying performer. Again, this isn’t as bright a performance as that of the Q90R, which means the snow isn’t as crisply white, but the general balance in terms of colours and contrast is more or less the same. As is the way the image is upscaled delicately, preserving the essential filmic quality of Tarantino’s grim Western.

We often use Gravity as a test for local dimming, because the star fields and bright white space suits are a real challenge. In general the Q70 handle this difficult material well, with very little haloing, blooming or clipping. However there were a couple of occasions where the local dimming was caught out, although with the less challenging content that was rarely an issue. Unlike the Q90R, the Q70R doesn’t have a separate One Connect box to house its connections, so every cable runs into its rear, just as it does on the vast majority of non-Samsung TVs. While the design is important, it’s nowhere near as crucial as performance. In the Q70A, Samsung has tried to create a TV that pleases all comers, whether they be movie buffs or next-gen gaming fanatics. So, does the Q70A, a TV that’s still within the realms of affordability for most people, really cover all the bases? Samsung Q70A: Key specifications When it comes to buying gadgets and technology products, particularly in the Televisions category it’s important to invest in good quality products. 65″ SAMSUNG QE65Q70BATXXU Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR QLED TV with Bixby is no exception. There are a number of reasons why quality is so important when it comes to these types of products. Samsung’s QLEDs also support FreeSync, a particular form of VRR supported by the Xbox One and some PCs. Add some useful game-enhancing picture settings and an input lag of just 16ms, and you’ve got a very tempting display for the hard-core gamers out there.

Further down the lineup, you have Samsung’s QLED range. These TVs use panels with bog standard LEDs but picture performance gets a boost from the same quantum dot filter that’s incorporated into Neo QLED and QD-OLED models. The company’s Neo QLEDs are more affordable despite their highly advanced panel technology. These use Mini LEDs, which are larger than Micro LEDs but significantly smaller than regular LEDs, to light their panels, along with a quantum dot filter. They’re brighter and more energy-efficient than their standard LED counterparts and feature many more local dimming zones, which helps improve contrast and overall image quality.
