There is the potential for younger players to get involved and have fun with this because of the modifications available. It can be a simple, effective tool when adapted for each player. But, the size and the adaptability do play into the hands of older users. The barrel extension, extra firepower, spring modification, and other options are great for players with the time and effort to put into the device. So unless you need the extra tactical rails, or like the way the barrel looks, there is little point in adding it.

Overall the product was good but not worth the price paid. I got a similar Star Wars type gun and light saber - Fratelli Blaster Gun which was Rs.1199 and got the same sturdiness but shooting distance was not as good as Nerf Retaliator. It comes with a lot of cool add-ons and features the same internals as an Alpha Trooper but without slam fire. The Barrel Break IX-2, Strongarm, and Jolt are all available under the Toys "R" Us exclusive Sonic FIRE sub-series in clear red plastic instead of the standard opaque blue, including an exclusive color variant of the Elite Darts with red instead of blue bodies, the same color also used by the larger Mega Darts. The original paint-job was changed to the white, XD style in 2014. Most people prefer the older orange style. If you are one of these, it is worth keeping an eye out for second-hand as the performance is almost identical. Loading & Firing It comes with a 12 round magazine which is probably fine for this rate of fire, but you can fit the 18 dart magazines and drums if you like, but the rate of fire probably does not warrant it.So while this is a robust blaster, why you would get one of these over an Alpha Trooper? As an example, some utilize round pellets while others rely on long-range darts that fly further than others. While some of them are interchangeable, many aren't. Verdict

The priming handle is on top of the blaster, which is pretty common. The problem I found with this on the Retaliator is that you need to let go of the front handle to prime it. This means that if you are holding the front grip you have to let go, prime, then re-grip, before you can fire. That is just daft and makes the front grip pretty much redundant. In turn, this leads to a model that kids could share between them. Older players can set it up to their personal preferences for epic battles with friends on the weekend. Then, perhaps younger siblings can strip it down and use the more comfortable design for casual play in the evenings. N-Strike Elite running change “economy” variant (same plastic colors as the standard version, but sporting considerably fewer paint operations) I haven't had any jams after a few weeks of moderate use. Its a nerf gun so at some point you WILL have a jam, but clearing it is pretty easy via the access door, you can reach in and pull out a jammed dart.

The accuracy for blasters is pretty much determined by the darts, except where they have rifling in the longer barrels. The Retaliator does not have this, so the type of dart (and its condition) are your limiting factors. In reality, at about 10m you can hit a human….some of the time!
