Togouchi Blended Japanese whisky is know as the “naturalized Japanese Whisky” because they import already distilled single malt whisky from Scotland and grain whisky from Canada. They then go through an undisclosed process to “naturalize” the whisky so that it can be called Japanese Whisky. Then they make their blends. Japan has been firmly established as a whisky producing nation for many decades and, with new distilleries cropping up all over the world, it is now seen as one of the old guard. The Togouchi range includes ‘highly unusual’ whiskies that have been finished in beer and sake casks. The whiskies are stored for between three to eight years mostly in oak casks previously used for Bourbon, Sherry, wine, or sake.
