About this deal

UHMW has no UL recognition. It would be HB on UL-1 – that is slow burning (less than 3″ per minute). How can you tell if a sample of UHMW contains regrind? Manufacturing Industry: UHMW tape is employed in the manufacturing sector to reduce friction on conveyor belts, facilitating the smooth movement of goods and minimizing wear on mechanical components.

Low Coefficient of Friction: This feature minimizes wear on surfaces, extending the lifespan of machinery and equipment. UHMW can be manufactured in conductive or anti-static forms making it ideal for use in electronics and semi conductor applications. Is UHMW UV stable?UHMW-PE stands for Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. It is the highest quality polyethylene (PE) available, engineered for tough jobs and a wide range of applications. It delivers savings in a number of difficult applications. Ultra High Molecular Weight is the secret of this polymer’s unique properties. Its high-density polyethylene resin has a molecular weight range of 3 to 6 million, compared to 300,000 to 500,000 for high molecular weight (HMW) resins. That difference is what ensures that this material is strong enough to withstand abrasion and impact better than lower level poly products. UHMW-PE’s high molecular weight means it will not melt or flow as a molten liquid. Processing methods are therefore derived from those of powder metal technology. UHMW-PE cannot be transformed and molded by conventional plastic processing techniques (injection molding, blow molding or thermoforming). Compression molding is the most common conversion process used with this resin because it produces a stronger, more consistent product. What is TIVAR®? UHMW (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) tape and PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) tape are both used for various applications due to their low-friction, high slip properties. However, there are some key differences between the two:

UHMW manufacturers have done extensive research on numerous additives that can enhance a property of UHMW-PE thereby providing customized products to meet customer requirements. Is TIVAR® H.O.T weldable? UHMW tapes are a nice alternative for Skived PTFE tapes when elevated higher temperatures are not present. All of our PTFE tapes provide high tensile strength, low elongation and high temperature & high dielectric strength resistance.Noise reduction and vibration dampening– UHMW tape is effective in reducing noise and dampening vibrations between surfaces. It is commonly used in applications such as automotive interiors, appliances, industrial machinery, and equipment to minimize noise and vibration levels. For applications where the primary purpose is to protect surfaces from scratches, abrasion, or wear, thinner UHMW tapes are commonly used. These thinner tapes provide a low-friction surface and can be applied to various surfaces, including metals, plastics, and painted surfaces. Yes, it behaves much like regular HDPE. The minimum temperature is 400 degrees F and the minimum pressure of 300 psi is highly recommended. What percentage of parent strength of UHMW can be attained? Oven Test – place it in an aluminum dish in a 300 degree oven. Regular HDPE will slump or melt but UHMW will not change size or shape. However, it could warp or distort due to built in stresses.

Wear and abrasion resistance– UHMW tape is utilized in applications where high levels of wear and abrasion resistance are required. It can be applied to components subjected to sliding, rubbing, or impact, such as wear strips, skid plates, guide rails, or cutting surfaces. Temperature limitations– UHMW tape has temperature limitations, and exceeding these limits can affect its performance. Ensure that the operating temperature of your application does not exceed the recommended temperature range of the UHMW tape. Higher temperatures can cause the tape to melt, deform, or lose its adhesive properties. TIVAR® is an acronym for Tough Inert Very Abrasion Resistant. What are the key properties of TIVAR® UHMW-PE?Chemical resistance: PTFE tape has excellent chemical resistance and is known for its non-reactivity with most chemicals and solvents. UHMW tape also has good chemical resistance but may be more susceptible to certain chemicals compared to PTFE. Burn Test – light it with a match and smell the smoke. If it smells like candle wax – that indicates polyethylene. UHMW does not drip as readily as HDPE but it will drip.
