About this deal

It can replace the need for sulfate of ammonia for leafy crops and those plants who need a high nitrogen supply. It can replace the need for sulfate of potassium used to produce bigger blooms and more fruit, and it has enough iron via sulphate of iron to help ericaceous plants. You can say it is a general-purpose fertiliser that has good multitude uses in the garden including containers.

Tomatoes: 200g per sq.m (Before planting in the soil). Spread 35g per sq.m as a regular feed at 3-4 week intervals.Keep the products to the bare minimum. You do not need a separate fertiliser for every vegetable, for instance. It is a general-purpose fertiliser that comes in the form of a granular feed that contains nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium that plant need with added trace elements. It will provide a wide range of plants enough nutrients throughout the growing season.

To get the best results from this product apply the fertiliser evenly to the soil, preferably when the soil is wet. Q4 All Purpose Plant Food is perfect to use on roses, prior to planting. For established bushes it can be applied as a top dressing in the spring. The confusion in this thread seems to be caused by conflating two things - feeding plants and 'feeding' soil. Chemical fertilizers such as Growmore or Vitax feed plants directly but do little for the soil. Soil health is important, and that is improved by adding composted materials such as animal manures, good garden compost, leafmould, any humus rich material basically, which will naturally increase bio diversity; that bio diversity will naturally provide more trace elements and more nutrients to your plants, but over time rather than in a week or three. It can be rather dusty, despite what the manufacturer may say. You need to apply it on still days as it can irritate your eyes and throat.

I also use Vitax Q4 professional to add to growing media that I’ve used for growing bulbs. When I remove the bulbs from pots in spring I tip the growing medium into a barrow, add a few handfuls of Vitax Q4 professional and mix it up. I use this for potting seasonal bedding plants or even longer term subjects in containers. Vitax Q4 professional is not always recommended for use in pots, mainly because you can overdo it. Personally I do use it as a top dressing on permanently potted subjects – just a handful and then top up with some fresh growing medium. The high potash ratio will boost the number of flowers and toughen up the foliage on roses and many other flowering plants. All rose feeds are high in potash and they can be used with lots of flowering plants - although they do tend to be expensive. Westland Gro-Sure Tomato Food (6-3-10) Light sandy soils tend to be hungrier. Clay soil is much more fertile, so needs less fertiliser. Garden compost Aromatic plants with a Mediterranean provenance often have deep-root systems that seek out food and water from the depths, so silvers are often best left to their own devices. British wildflowers also prefer low-nutrient soils, so concentrate fertilisers in certain areas and feed in the growing season - including September. This will translate to a nitrogen: phosphorous: potassium (NPK) ratio of 5.3:3.3:8.3. This can be seen as a high potassium fertiliser and therefore suitable for flowering and fruiting plants. To be truthful as said earlier, the amount of phosphorous is a bit low but this can be supplement by adding superphosphates in the mix or by using liquid fertilisers. Vitax Q4 Multi-Purpose Compost is suitable for use with bedding plants, bulbs and tubers, perennials, shrubs, herbs, fruit and vegetables. The ideal situation is to have the best of both worlds: an organic-based fertiliser with enhanced nutrient content which includes all of those plant nutrients that are required in smaller amounts, but are nonetheless essential for plant growth and performance. I should also mention that ericaceous plants such as rhododendrons and camellias need specific fertilisers; they are fussy feeders and cannot cope with the high nutrient levels of general fertilisers. Using soil improvers like composted animal manures means it's not necessary to do a second application of chemical fertilizer such as Growmore in the same year. Originally developed for the commercial grower, Q4 Fertiliser is the trusted choice for producing bigger, brighter blooms and bumper crops.

It will help plants to grow vigorous producing new shoots, flowers in abundance and fruits in larger numbers. It should be used regularly throughout the growing season. It can be used on fruit trees and soft fruit bushes to increase harvests.Find out how to make your own compost heap Common fertilisers and their N-P-K ratios Vitax Q4 (5.3- 7.5 -10)
