About this deal

If your Arks of Omen Detachment is a TRAITORIS ASTARTES Detachment that only contains units from the EMPEROR’S CHILDREN Legion, you can include one LEGIONES DAEMONICA Patrol Detachment that only contains units with the SLAANESH keyword as an Allied Detachment. Reorganising their forces, routing their chaotic enemies under the Lion’s leadership, and evacuating, the Imperial fleet successfully blows the planet Wyrmwood to bits from orbit, along with any chaos forces still on it – but at great cost in Space Marine lives. When GW first announced Arks of Omen, it said that a key design goal was to prevent players from having to use more than one book – that means there will be no new Arks of Omen models. But each book will have a strong theme, and some new special characters are confirmed to be releasingalongside the books. It’s great news for armies that rely on Vanguard, Outrider, or Spearhead Detachments to maximise a particular Battlefield Role, as they’ll now be able to take more of (almost) everything else alongside their preferred units. You’ll even get some extra Elites slots specifically for CHARACTER units, so a crucial Apothecary , Ork Mek , or Sister Dogmata won’t steal space from your big hitters.

Clarion Dire - Commanded by World Eaters lord Karakka Bloodfist. Took part in the battle for Malakbael. [5b] In other cases, new rules have been adapted to suit the claustrophobic battlefield. Units can stand on top of objective markers, for instance, just as they did in the previous edition. Some of those corridors would get mighty cramped if they couldn’t! The Arks of Omen have sown terror and death from one side of the galaxy to the other. Despite the efforts of those who opposed them, their masters have gathered enough arcane artefacts for Vashtorr the Arkifane to fashion his monstrous Key. The hour draws nigh when the daemon and the Despoiler will between them awaken this engine of terrible power. Dread Encounter games represent six pivotal moments during the Arks of Omen narrative, transformed into unique Boarding Actions missions with unpredictable elements. In The Red Angel’s Wake , for example, a rampaging Angron cuts straight through the hull of the ship you’re fighting on – rupturing your game board and forcing your troops to make risky leaps through the void. Which of the units from their army will start the battle embarked within TRANSPORT models (they must specify which units are embarked within which model). In an Arks of Omen: Grand Tournament mission, each unit from your army with the Dedicated Transport Battlefield Role must start the battle with one or more friendly models embarked within it, or it cannot be set up and will count as having been destroyed during the first battle round.Arks of Omen: The Lion also includes Boarding Actions rules for the last few factions. The Leagues of Votann are experts in extracting salvage from deep space structures of all shapes and sizes. Their void-armoured warriors eradicate anything standing between them and their prize with an Exacting Focus resulting from well-practised combat drills. In addition to all this, there is also an Underdog Bonus for the player with fewer points, if the difference between the two armies is more than 30 points. This particular bonus depends on the mission. Another Balefleet under Lady Maeve of House Grendyl arrived in the Polyhadra System expecting to claim their prize from local Orks. Instead, they found a thriving enclave of the Greater Thurian League. Squat Kin had long since sliced apart the world Maeve sought, the key-fragment having since been moved into the Galactic Core. Before she could disengage and pursue her prize however, she sought to punish the Squats for what they had done. Soon, a savage battle erupted. Other Xenos forces actively sought out the Balefleets to destroy them, such as Craftworlds Ulthwe, Saim-Hann, Yme-Loc, and their allies including Harlequins, Dark Eldar, Corsairs, and Exodites. [1d]

Second, if the unit’s minimum size is five then you can either use it as a minimum size unit or include additional models so long as the Starting Strength of the unit is 10. Note that for the most part, 10-model units are then split into Boarding Squads of five models before deployment.Edge of Silence • War Zone Charadon ( Act I • Act II) • War Zone Octarius ( Book I • Book II) • War Zone Nachmund ( Vigilus Alone • Rift War) • Crusade ( Beyond the Veil • Plague Purge • Amidst the Ashes • Containment • Catastrophe • Wars of Faith) • Arks of Omen ( Abaddon • Angron • Vashtorr • Farsight • The Lion) Arks of Omen: The Lion – Six Dread Encounter missions for dramatic scenarios, 12 Breaching Operation missions for use with destructible walls, and additional rules for Adeptus Custodes, Agents of the Imperium, Leagues of Votann, and Thousand Sons I can even see it being used in small ‘side missions’ in ongoing campaigns. All of the missions have an Underdog Bonus which can just as easily be given to the side with the lower Crusade Point total if you can’t be bothered to work out your points total. I would also suggest using the Combat Squads rule when you need to split up your 10 man squads even if your unit is missing that particular ability.

Warp Portal - Each Ark includes a captive Warp Portal for a purpose known only to a select few outside of Vashtorr and Abaddon. If you select this objective, keep a Retrieved Data tally. In addition, units from your army can attempt the following action: During the Battle of Idolatros, Vashtorr finally activated The Key and the objective of the Arks was completed. It is unknown what became of the remaining Arks thereafter, though Vashtorr seems to have taken to the Wyrmwood and abandoned them. [7] Known Arks

Secondary Objectives

Aside from the Lore no doubt setting up some new stalemate, I am keen to see what Crusade content that may come along to expand upon this format. Additional exotic systems that include temporal and probability-based weapons, neutron shielding, quantum communications, counter-ballistic teleportation batteries, and many more. While formidable many are unreliable, and are further augmented by the Dark Mechanicum with Weapons Batteries, shield generators, vox arrays, hangar bays, and engines wherever they could be attached. Many of these installations we are self-contained, generating their own air and power and in no way conjoined with the greater Arks own systems. If your Arks of Omen Detachment is a WORLD EATERS Detachment, you can include one LEGIONES DAEMONICA Patrol Detachment that only contains units with the KHORNE keyword as an Allied Detachment. If a players Arks of Omen Detachment is either an ADEPTUS ASTARTES or TRAITORIS ASTARTES Detachment, and every unit from their army (excluding AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM, AGENT OF CHAOS or UNALIGNED units) is from the same Chapter or Legion, that player can also select from the appropriate Chapter or Legion secondary objectives.

Within the Warp, Vashtorr is the master of the soul forges, a metaphysical foundry in which daemonic entities are enmeshed with technological abominations to create entities such as Soul Grinders, Calamity Engines, or Infernal Bombards. Daemons willingly submit to this transformation in pursuit of swift power, agreeing in binding contract to pay the price of a given number of souls reaped and offered to the forges. He maintains his neutrality by being a useful entity to all of the Ruinous Powers. When manifested in reality he is a frightening threat that can summon forth hosts of infernal legions bound to him and alter the mechanisms of reality itself. Once created, the Arks are placed under the command of Abaddon’s chosen followers and sent to their task, though not always fully aware of what they’re looking for. There’s some really cool details in the book on how these are outfitted and how Abaddon ensures they’ll achieve their goals, and it’s worth a read to understand more about the roles they play in the larger plan. What’s Next For all these grand events, none can compare to the return of a demigod long thought lost to the annals of legend. Lion El’Jonson, Primarch of the Dark Angels, has awoken, and by strange paths has returned to aid the Imperium in its darkest hour. Will the Lion triumph, or will the champions of Chaos unleash a new and nightmarish force upon the galaxy?Death in the Dark splits the field into two Lighting Areas (corresponding to each board), and at the end of each Movement phase the lights in each zone can turn on or off. Up to 15 points can be earned each turn for controlling one, two,, or more objectives and the end game objective gives an additional 15 points per Lighting Area if the player controls every objective in that region. After you have added an Arks of Omen Detachment to your army, you can choose to add one Allied Detachment to your army - this must be either a Patrol Detachment or a Super-heavy Auxiliary Detachment. You can only include a maximum of one Allied Detachment in your army. The Command Cost of any such Detachment is always 0CP and its Command Benefits are always ‘None’. You cannot include any Understrength units in an Allied Detachment. You can only include an Allied Detachment if its Faction is a permitted Allied Detachment for your Arks of Omen Detachment, as described in the Battle Brothers section. This one-size-fits-all solution means every army can now include Lords of War and Fortifications at no extra cost. This is especially great news for Imperial Knights and Chaos Knights players, who now don’t require a specific configuration of units to avoid a CP tax. Honestly my opinion is that this rule set should have been released as a booklet in a White Dwarf and then they could have drip fed the rest of the Faction-specific content over the next few issues. I doubt we’ll see any FAQs or a second print run of the Boarding Action terrain set for this series which is a shame because it looks like a lot of fun to play. So maybe organize a whip round your gaming group and chip in for the terrain and the books?
