About this deal

At best, it's hypocrisy. At worst, it's her intentionally joking about a genocide and the victims, misrepresenting an oppressed people, etc so she could joke about the funny hat. Oh, and she's making money off it. Oh boy, another YouTuber who I loved in the beginning, but then as time went on I started getting too many BS vibes from her. The Christmas video was the final straw, so off to GG I go to see if I’m just being overly sensitive. Once again, if you see an insta story, don't just talk about it, screenshot it and share it please for archival purpose so we can share with others. they're only up 24 hours. On her channel, Banner is an active spokesperson against the fast fashion industry, highlighting its environmental devastation and poor labor practices as reason for people to do what they can to abstain from buying clothes from such brands. In place of consuming fast fashion products, Banner has described her own move towards limiting her number of wardrobe pieces to sustainable and long-lasting garments, many of which she has created herself. [12] totally agree with the ‘feigned ignorance’ vibe, it’s definitely wearing thin for me too. A good counterpoint to this is Rachel Maksy, who is super into vintage, yet completely aware of the current internet and memes, and is not afraid to include those out of concern for ruining the aesthetic

What I can say about this book, is there for just from my own POV. I have very little experience with sewing, but I've always found it a relaxing thing to do - I embroider and cross stitch - and have been wanting to branch into sewing for a while now. Mainly to make a quilt, but now I also have some ideas as to how to modify some of the clothes I don't use often but deeply love. It is boring as hell for me. I would say, I wasted that time, except, I've knitted, so it was not completely lost... Anyhow, her statements are generally fine, except on the 1851 book, when she says, that it is high crinolin time, when crinolins were patented in the middle of the decade (so a few years later). But then again, we've already seen all this. Nothing new.Wait her facts are wrong, then it pointed to the viewer of her videos saying that it was not ment to be educational but entertainment and nothing more. Then why make such a video

I’ve been getting couple vibes off her and Cathy for a while now, I believe they even had connected hotel rooms at Costume College The people featured are modern makers, including Dandy Wellington, Claudia Vogt, Yang Cheon Shik, Sophia Khan, and Embry Whitmore. The stories are not written by BB, they are a self-written bio, by the person that is being featured. Indeed they are placed at the end of each main chapter. Remember a couple weeks ago when I said I was worried she might unintentionally cause offence with Coven of Sisters? Well scratch that, because it's way worse than I thought it was going to be - and it was intentional. Learn the Historically Proven Stitches Every Seamster Needs with Beloved Historical Fashion YouTuber Bernadette Banner So have done a deep dive on all of these threads my eyes are square and uni work lingering. However, one of the biggest things that has annoyed me about the old machines us this treatment of them being so precious. Same with CH tbf. Oh let me send it off to a specialist.

In addition to rediscovering the methods by which clothes were made in the past, the Bernadette Banner YouTube channel seeks to explore how we in the 21st century can learn from and adopt historical sewing techniques and attitudes towards dress in an effort to fight the effects of fast fashion and mass manufacture. a b Hyde, Jen (3 January 2020). If there was any sources from the "before" time that BB supposedly has a medical reason for not remembering. Unless she was home schooled? Like someone has got to know who she was before this persona. a b Gioia, Michael (8 December 2014). I guess her family is probably religious but not Christian/Catholic? She pretends to not know what Christmas Eve is . The video obviously wouldn't be complete without Bernadette lovingly staring at the TV while the Queen's Speech is playing. (And again, it's not a part of Christmas tradition for the vast, vast majority of British people).

she is going to bump into Cathy at an event in the spring and it will be AWKWARD. Possibly cause drama on social media. I just opened YT to see that Bernadette has a new video on redesigning HR book covers. I haven't really watched her in at least a year, but I remember having a discussion about her doing this before. Afawk, she's not an HR reader and likely not hip on knowledge about the history of book covers and trends over the past 30 years.Banner studied in the Design and Production Studio at Tisch School of the Arts. After that, she did an internship for Tony Award-winning costume designer Jenny Tiramani at the School of Historical Dress in London. [13] She formerly worked as a costume assistant for Broadway, and later on a parody preview video of the Broadway musical Frozen. [3] The Christmas video has really thrown me! How can anyone, in this day and age claim to know nothing of Christmas and all it’s traditions?? I used to really enjoy her posts and her obvious talent, but to claim she has no knowledge when it is quite easy to google and find that she has a very privileged upbringing with her parents having an article in the New York Times boasting about the size of their closet and how most New York apartments would fit into said closet! Mother is successful real estate business owner and father a builder. Sister is also very successful with high powered job in NY! It is unfortunate that she has chosen to ‘act’ in this way as I can now only view her as a historical interpreter, not dissimilar to the Mrs Crocomb that she often raves about!
