About this deal

Despite this age of isolation, the New York Public Library has been strengthening its community of readers since April 2020, when it teamed up with US radio station WNYC to launch its online book club. Sometimes, the price point of popular new-releases (often the fodder of book clubs) can put off readers who would otherwise love to join. But all the chosen books for this virtual book club can be read for free through NYPL’s e-reader app, which makes it easy to read any eBook in your library’s collection. Since 2017, Lez Book Club members have been meeting in London pubs to provide a space for queer women to come together and share LGBT books. But the pivot to virtual book clubs (and virtual everything else) has given founder Eleanore Pratoussy the opportunity to remove all physical boundaries from the group and open up this lit-loving community to queer and trans women, and nonbinary people, all around the world. Support an indie author by having everyone in your book club buy a copy or request it from your library. Because these indie authors aren’t usually inundated with Good Morning America requests, I’d say there’s a pretty good chance you could have a Zoom meeting with the author too, if that’s your thing.

N'Duka, Amanda (August 15, 2017). "Don Johnson, Craig T. Nelson, Richard Dreyfuss & More Board Bill Holderman's 'Book Club' ". Deadline Hollywood. Penske Business Media . Retrieved May 15, 2018. This masterly thriller from the pseudonymous Lloyd effectively delays revealing who among the large cast of characters has died violently...Lloyd (husband-and-wife writing team Collette Lyons and Paul Vlitos) makes the reader care about even unappealing characters, and the payoff is completely satisfying. Fans of Ruth Ware's One by One will be riveted." - Publishers Weekly (starred review) Rebel Book Club is for bookworms and nonfiction junkies battling the curse of tsundoku — that’s Japanese for the growing pile of unread books next to your bed. They’re a fun, global community of curious minds looking to get maximum value from bad-ass nonfiction reads. But behind the scenes tension is escalating and some are at there breaking point. The longer the weekend gets, everything takes a sinister turn and some people on the island don't make it out alive. In May 2017, it was announced Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda and Candice Bergen had joined the cast of the film, with Bill Holderman directing, from a screenplay by himself and Erin Simms. Holderman and Simms also produced the film, along with Andrew Duncan and Alex Saks, the latter two under their June Pictures banner. [5] In July 2017, Mary Steenburgen joined the cast, [6] and in August 2017, Andy García, Don Johnson, Craig T. Nelson, Richard Dreyfuss, Ed Begley Jr., Wallace Shawn, Alicia Silverstone, Tommy Dewey and Katie Aselton joined as well. [7] [8] [9]Overall, it has a very good second half. I'd class this as a good slow burner mystery but not so much a thriller. The blurb reads, "At this club, if your name's on the list, you're not getting out..." Well, sort of. It's a "whodunnit" but you don't even know until near the end who is dead, which made it all a bit convoluted. The plot centers around a collection of celebrity member clubs across the world, dubbed "the Homes" where the rich and famous party hard without cell phones and fans. The Island Home, off the English coast, is the newest venture and CEO and founder, Ned Groom and his team have planned an exclusive three-day launch party, which is by far the most coveted A-list invite of the year. But behind the scenes, tensions are at breaking point. Ned is a narcissistic monster; his trusted assistant, Nikki, has a big secret she's been keeping for decades; Ned's younger brother, Adam, has sacrificed his marriage to be Ned's right-hand man but has been given an impossible ultimatum by his wife; the Head of Membership, Annie, keeps the world's most spoiled celebrities entertained using any means necessary, but at a personal cost; and the Head of Housekeeping, Jess, has ulterior motives spanning years prior to the launch. Within a day, bodies start piling up, and all the dirty secrets come to light, despite desperate measures taken to keep them hidden. The Home club the ultimate globally franchised elite club for the people at the top of their global game! This book tells the story of the launch night of Island Home where the franchise decided to set up an entire island as a branch of their super-elite members only club. Their brand sees them overseeing branches all over the world with some of the highest quality performers, decor, services and more, but the question that's never really been asked is how do they raise so much money to provide the services they do from their very rich but limited membership?
