The writing was beautiful, but I expected nothing else from Pearson after she totally blew me away with her Remnant Chronicles series. The story follows Kazi, a reformed thief and member of the Queen’s elite guard, as she investigates a plot to overthrow the Queen by a neighboring kingdom. Kazi meets Jase Ballenger, the leader of a group of outlaws who may have information about the plot.

And every time she doesn't like something, she starts screaming, makes assumptions, and accuses the Ballenger family of all crimes against humanity, never giving anyone a chance to justify themselves because screw these guys.She fascinated me, her contradictions, her secrets, and the girl that sometimes surfaced from beneath her tough soldier exterior, like when she spotted the wish stalks on the bank. The girl who forgot who I was and pressed a wish stalk to my ankle. In another world, another circumstance, I think we might have been friends. Or more.”

And 4 stars for the thieves that stole my attention and a plot that had my head spinning as I was immersed in a book of political intrigue, a battle between kingdoms, and with some cunning, unpredictable and devious characters that brought song, music, and rhythm to this dark fairy tale story – the Dance of Thieves.Even though they face problems, they never once whined or never once thought about giving up. They fiercely love their families and I fiercely love them🥺💖 The scheming, deception, duplicity and double crossing in the book was also superb. I found it hard to keep up in a good way. This added so much intrigue, suspense, and drama to a story that started and ended well, and everything in between kept me absorbed. The situation is: Kazi finally understands how stupid she is, goes to Jase to talk about bad men who were actually behind every crime she thought was the Ballengers'. This is what he answers): Don't. Don't even try to deny it. It's all obvious now... It's ironic, don't you think, all that self-righteous indignation you flung at me because I was a thieving Ballenger. I should be laughing, shouldn't I?"

Be prepared - the book is looooong. But that means plenty of room for betrayal on multiple levels, and angst like you wouldn't believe. I did wish the pace was a bit snappier but I can't deny the richness of the world and the details put into the characters. And as always, I loved Mary's writing!Dance of Thieves was full to the brim with new character dynamics, action, family, drama, betrayal, absolutely swoon (and I mean SWOON) worthy romance and another strong female character who can take care of herself. It was so addictive I wanted to devour it all in one sitting. It was paced nicely and flowed extremely well. The plot was sensational and completely engaging. It had both expected and unexpected twists and I loved it all. Kazi la he adorado por lo que representa. Por su parte, Jase adoro por ser jefe de familia, por ser el protector y representar otro tipo de cultura y modo de vida así como tener siempre una debilidad humana que ♥ . El rollo de que a veces vayan modo mafia me mola y me he quedado con más ganas de su familia. The things I didn't like was that hey jumped into romance so fast they were barely enemies and that made me so disappointed because I thought this was enemies to lovers but it wasn't it was more like forbidden romance. Therefore, if you came to Dance with Thieves looking for a sprawling fantasy epic, you’re going to be disappointed. There are elements of this here. The world building is incredibly interesting, but seems to rely on readers possessing some level of knowledge from the earlier stories. The Ballenger clan of outlaws gets some nuggets of history tossed in here and there, but not nearly as much as I wanted.
