About this deal

Using the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2, as we did on many of our flights, is more intuitive for experienced drone pilots. When combined with the excellent view provided by the Goggles 2 and the agility of the Avata, it provided for easy precision flying and a high degree of exhilaration as we cruised low to the ground or between tree tops. In short, flying the Avata is a blast.

Protective covers keep dust and debris off of the eyepieces when the Goggles 2 aren't in use (Credit: Jim Fisher) The nose-mounted camera supports 4K60 and 2.7K100 video with a mix of gimbal and digital stabilization (Credit: Jim Fisher) DJI Avata is compatible with DJI Goggles 2, DJI Goggles Integra, DJI FPV Goggles V2, DJI FPV Remote Controller 2, DJI RC Motion 2, and the DJI Motion Controller. The main difference between these Goggles and the ones you might use with a standard FPV are that DJI's ones have a cut-down version of the DJI Fly app, which means you can fly the drone without a mobile phone or tablet attached. While we can’t confirm this currently, we’ve been told that the blade guard and main frame of the drone will be purchasable as replacements from DJI, allowing owners to replace them if they have an unfortunate accident. The DJI Motion Controller is an intuitive device which enables operators to control the aircraft with their hand movements. Real-time screen correction is unavailable during recording, but can be applied to the footage recorded on the drone. The design of the Avata is a radical departure from the original DJI FPV, as this design has no folding elements, placing its blades inside protective rings. While we haven't been able to test it to destruction, the Avata looks like it was designed to handle a few obstruction encounters without rapid and unexpected disassembly.

The screen refresh rate changes with the video transmission frame rate. It may switch between 100 Hz and 60 Hz to adapt to the current video transmission frame rate. Fly Smart Combo: More cost-effective FPV combo, featuring the drone, Motion Controller and the DJI FPV Goggles V2, which have some limitations compared to DJI Goggles 2. As humans don’t come with consistently-specced eyes, the Goggles 2 allows for both a degree of optical adjustment along with Interpupillary Distance changes. Fly Smart Combo provides a more cost-effective FPV ecosystem, coming with the drone, Motion Controller and DJI FPV Googles V2; DJI Goggles Integra e DJI Goggles 2 sono simili per dimensioni, prestazioni di trasmissione video e visualizzazione dello schermo.

DJI Avata only supports downward obstacle sensing when used with DJI FPV Remote Controller 2, or DJI RC Motion 2/DJI Motion Controller in N Mode and S Mode. Tested in an outdoor open environment without interference. The video transmission bitrate varies with operating environments. FPV flying is almost entirely done with a headset, which DJI calls its Goggles, The new Goggles 2 is one option bundled with the Avata, but it will work with the older Goggles V2 also. The DJI Avata Pro-View Combo includes the DJI Goggles 2, DJI’s flagship FPV goggles offering, whilst the DJI Avata Explorer Combo pairs the Avata drone with the new DJI Goggles Integra. Key accessories include the DJI Avata Fly More Kit (containing 2 x DJI Avata Intelligent Flight Batteries and 1 x DJI Avata Battery Charging Hub) and DJI Avata ND filters (ND8, ND16, and ND32).
