About this deal

Verify that the drip-tray is correctly positioned. The coffee flows very slowly during operation of my Dolce Gusto machine. What should I do?

There is no limit in the number of coffees a machine can make in a day, but consumers need to be careful not to make too many coffees in a row, because if they are continuously extracting beverages it might lead to an over-heating of specific elements of the machine resulting in error mode triggering. The coffee itself is perfectly good for a pod machine: we rather enjoyed the flavour of the americanos which tasted fresh and full-bodied as any manual espresso, though the fun of these machines is all in the experimenting so you can search out your own personal favourite go-to coffee. Choose the appropriate water level (the amount of water is specified on each adapted beverage capsule). If the on/off button turns orange/yellow continuously (descaling warning), you should descale the machine.

Performance

For cold beverages, use water at ambient temperature, never refrigerated water, and place two or more ice cubes (20g per ice cube) in the cup. If you believe that one part is missing, please call Consumer Services Center and we will help you find a suitable solution. Where can I buy accessories, consumables or spare parts for my appliance? Only the capsule holder can be washed in the dishwasher. The drip tray and the water tank must be washed manually. For my manual machine, the user manual states that when you descale the machine you only use the Hot button. Then rinse with both Hot and Cold. Don't we also need to descale the cold water pipe?

We do not recommend the appliance to be used by children. This information is clearly stated in the User manual. What is the maximum of beverages a machine can make per day? No, the machine is not a perishable item and can be used as long as it works properly. Is the plastic hose used inside PE (Polyethylene)? PP (Polypropylene)? For medium hardness water, descaling every 3/4 months gets rid of limescale build up, keeping waterflow fast and beverage temperature within expectations. For my automatic machine, the user manual states that when you descale the machine, you only use the Hot button. Then rinse with both Hot and Cold. Don't we also need to descale the cold water pipe? The 0.8-litre removable water tank could be a little bigger. But you’re unlikely to notice it if you’re only making a cup or two at a time. On the right, a bean icon with a plus sign represents Espresso Boost. This is recommended to be used only with shorter coffee drinks, as you will only be able to get a maximum of three bars worth of liquid (roughly 65ml) with this function activated. The “boost” works by pre-brewing the contents of the pod for about 10secs before carrying on with extraction – this helps to strengthen the coffee aroma. For medium hardness water, descaling every 3/4 months gets rid of limescale build up, keeping waterflow fast and beverage temperature within expectations. What we can advise is that consumers can make 5-6 coffees in a row, but then they need to wait for a moment (1-2 minutes should be enough) before resuming extracting. Can I change the color of the red wire of NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto® machine?

A red “shower” icon will light up when a descaling is due. According to the manual, the machine needs to be descaled after every 300 extractions. The extraction of the Dolce Gusto coffee is made at an optimal temperature, so that it gives a perfect coffee. It cannot be extracted any hotter, as this would cause the coffee grounds to have a burnt taste. The machine is not supposed to be used as a water boiler. Without capsule the flow is higher, the heat transfer is lower and the temperature will probably not reach the expectation of consumers. Are there any other safety precautions I should take? I have small children and I am concerned about their safety. If priming is not possible after these manipulations, take the appliance to an authorized service center. What should I do if my appliance is not working? Of course, with Nespresso, Tassimo, Lavazza and Dolce Gusto all offering accessibly priced and ostensibly similar pod machines, it can be hard to sort the wheat from the coffee chaff and find the machine that best suits your needs, so it pays to do your research before you commit to buy – but the DeLonghi Nescafe dolce gusto genio s is a good place to start.Your appliance contains valuable materials which can be recovered or recycled. Leave it at a local civic waste collection point. I've just opened my new appliance and I think there is a part missing. What should I do? The streamlined design of the machine does not allow for a capsule bin, which is slightly irritating as it means you have to remove the last coffee pod before brewing your next beverage, but provided the capsule is cooled and you’re not having to serve up several coffees at once, this is fine and not at all messy, so seems a fair trade off for the machine’s compact size. Above the green bars, you’ll find the cup icon that will activate the extraction process. Below that, a “shower” icon will light up when descaling is due. This can then be used to activate the descaling mode. Now its the partnership with Nescafe has created the latest pod machines. But with so many other coffee machines on the market producing such fresh, authentic espresso, why look at this type of model? To my taste, an espresso boost was necessary for both espresso shots on their own and as part of drinks, such as latte macchiato. (The espresso pods could be a little more flavoursome.)

Using the espresso boost also seemed to produce better crema, as did longer extraction – water level two or three instead of the recommended one bar. The best crema formed on top of an americano: at about 0.5cm it was substantial enough for me to draw a line with the spoon without parting it. However, the presence of some small bubbles indicated it wasn’t entirely smooth. The NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto machine heats water, which is passed at high pressure - a maximum of 15 bars - through a capsule of high quality roast and ground or soluble products (milk, chocolate, etc...) depending on the capsule variety. DeLonghi claims the genio s can create beverages in under 30 seconds thanks to its 15 bar high-pressure pump, which it says perfectly extracts the maximum flavour and aroma from each coffee pod, delivering a luxurious, crema-rich coffee. As with all pod machines, the clean up afterwards is minimal; all grounds are designed to stay in the pod for a mess-free coffee every time. Tap water (normal household potable water) is perfectly OK as long as it is free of odors that might alter the taste of the beverage. Bottled water is also OK.

Each time the consumer touches the Hot or Cold button, it is considered as an extraction. Descaling warning is based on the number of extractions and it is triggered every 300 extractions by a orange ligthing of the ON/OFF button. Machine still works but we recommend to descale it. All the pods I used with this machine came with suggested water level settings, making my initial tests easier. The capsules are designed to deliver an even distribution of water and pressure over the coffee to ensure that flavour is maximized. This system uses pressure similar to that of professional machines.
