About this deal

Okay so firstly, you should know this book has smut. A lot of it. Out of the scenes I actually cared to read rather than try to find the thin plot of this plot what plot book, there was maybe one smut scene that actually felt more appropriate for the YA characters being treated with new adult tropes. Hence my tagging it New Adult.

It might be the flu." She stressed. "For all we know it could be a sign of a terminal illness and I'll die without seeing my grandkids." The phone was silent for a moment. A spam call perhaps? Then a voice came through. "Oh, hello. Um, Colby Williams replying. Over." You're a terrible liar." His hands went to Ezra's shoulders and he began to massage them. "It's fine. You'll be fine. I can still come if you want?" I will say that this book definitely feels very Wattpad-y. The writing is pretty cringy and bad at times, but I can look past that for this absolute classic of a story. He did? Oh, well I'm sorry he told you that. Terribly boring stuff. I don't do that anymore, so no need to worry about me being a drag."

I know what that means." Said Ezra. He'd heard that phrase damn enough times by now. "Don't say you don't know English. Let me pay for you." Working mostly as well." That was true, but if he were to honestly say what —rather, who— had been taking up so much of his time recently, he wasn't sure how well that would be accepted. It was so stupid to even think about. A man like Steven infatuated, not just with a man, but a man ten years his younger as well. A hypocrite and a cradle snatcher, that's what he would be. So, he kept it quiet for now. "I suppose that's it." Thirdly, this needs an editor. A team of editors, even. Also beta and sensitivity readers. Not gonna get too much into detail here cuz I don't care to pull quotes at this point, but the dialogue, interpersonal thoughts, and everything else didn't mesh very well. The tone/vibe/whatever you call it for a story was all over the place and I really struggled to see what the "point" was of the story, thematically speaking. It wanted to be deep and thoughtful at moments and then would do something to completely contradict it and it got jarring very fast. Characterizations were also all over the place and seemed inconsistent. Character arcs can't be propped up solely by plot twists and sudden expository dumps! The perfect time had arisen as well. All of a sudden Ezra wanted to take him and his family out for some fancy schmancy dinner. It was the perfect opportunity to propose! It was like someone else had already planned it or something. The universe worked in funny ways. chapter six when colby tells ezra to take him home and they hold hands (and the comment where someone said imagine if they heard his zipper go up cause it made me laugh).

He'd done everything he was supposed to. He'd bought a ring, he'd subtly brought it up in conversation with Colby to gage his reaction, he'd booked a fancy restaurant. The stage was set. Why did he feel like he was missing something? Maybe the pressure of proposing was getting to Ezra a little bit. Okay, alteration for the plan. Ezra would find a way to ask for Trevor's permission to marry his son early into the dinner, they would all have a lovely evening, then as they finished up their meals, Ezra would get down on one knee and propose, Colby would say yes (because why wouldn't he) and then they would all have champagne and celebrate. Colby is the most airbrained of himbos but has the biggest heart and is like the best golden retriever boy you can imagine. We haven't even decided if we're having kids yet!" Ezra regretted saying it as soon as it left his mouth. Colby's hand left his thigh. It felt strange being jealous of a man Steven had never met. Ezra grinned and laughed whilst talking about his so called 'work dad'. He very much doubted that Ezra had the same expression when talking about Steven, his actual dad. How humiliating. A stranger was better at Steven's job than he was.

Nothing else." Dr Rodriguez prodded. It was her job to ask questions and yet her kind eyes seemed all the more judgemental. As if she knew that Steven was lying. "What do you do when you're not working?" Jemma please." Ezra rubbed his temples. Why did she always have to bring this up? He felt Colby's hand touch his thigh and he tried to focus on that.
