About this deal

It doesn’t come with a footswitch, although one can be bought separately, and this will enhance the amp’s performance. Firstly, this is a solid-state amp, so it will never be as responsive to touch as an expensive tube amp. It’s not necessarily a disadvantage, but if you’re looking for a really unique tube-like tone, the Champion 40 may not be the best choice for you. When it comes to pricing, it’s not the cheapest combo in the world, but at the same time it’s not overly expensive. It’s a bit more expensive than Fender Champion 20, but it’s less expensive than Fender Champion 100. Surely, it offers a fantastic value for that amount of money – it’s definitely not overpriced.

The amp is loaded with various different amp voicings and built-in effects, so it can be used in a lot of different styles of music. Whether you like the subtle, bluesy overdrive or the experimental and weird sounding chorus and vibrato – this amp won’t disappoint you. The open rear of the Champion 40 gives a convenient location to store cables and other manageably-sized accessories, which is another another feature that makes this amp ideal for band practice and traveling concerts.Additionally, we get a dedicated distortion channel volume control to set the output volume 0f the amplifier accordingly. Furthermore, the Champion 40 has a Voice control that allows you to select from a host of unique and usable drive sounds. By rotating the potentiometer around, you can select between low-gain tones (left), to high-gain tones on the right. It is also worth mentioning that this combo tends to be pretty loud. As a result, it can be efficiently used for home practice, band rehearsals and even small gigs.

This operation is completely normal. Unlike some amplifiers, the Champion 40 does not have a standby switch, so you hear the power release from the power supply through the speaker. This will not affect the amplifier. You can also turn the volume control down before powering off the amplifier for a much quieter experience. An audible pop can also be heard as you turn the amplifier on. Don’t worry about this, as it’s completely normal. This should normally all distortion needs are covered over a large area. The sound is adjusted via a two-band EQ in the master section with bass and treble active in both channels. It is, however, essentially a guitar amp. Apart from the low frequencies of a bass playing havoc with a solitary 12-inch speaker, even a very good one, it is not designed to handle bass at any volume. Keyboards might be an option, but it is basically a 100% guitar amp. Digital Amp Modelling: It is almost like having several amplifiers all inside this one because of the digital amp modeling, which recreates the voice of everything from a classic Fender amp to heavy metal one, and everything in between. You don’t need to buy an expensive effects pedal, as there are so many effects already built into the amplifier. Fender always makes quality products, and the Champion 40 is no exception.HiWatt, also in London, and previously known as Sound City, followed. And the music scene for those making a lot of noise became focused on what the Brits were producing. One of the best alternatives to the Champion 40 is Champion 50XL. I had a chance to review the Fender Champion 50XL recently, and I have to say, it was a lot of fun to use. The major difference is the 50s’ new visual paired with a selection of new effects. These new effects suit players looking for a better overdrive or distortion tone without using pedals. Fender upgraded the speaker in the 50XL to a Celestion Midnight 60 G12N-60, and it’s a welcomed upgrade over the old generic Fender speakers found in other amps.
