By using the Service, and by creating an account you represent, warrant and confirm that you are of legal age. Perhaps Ghost and Rare is the closest you will ever come to drinking a “haunted” whisky. Can it be said, however, that a bottle of rare elixirs, taken from three “silent” distilleries, is worth a price tag of three to four hundred dollars? Good question. It’s worth reminding you that there are five other spirits in the blend, as well. Its incredible character inspired us to create something truly extraordinary that pays proper tribute to the whisky makers of this storied Glasgow distillery.” Nose: Honeycomb and propolis at a medium approach. Green apple is very apparent with a closer inhale. Some peach and pear notes make a presence at a second inspection. Similar to standing in an orchard in early fall. The Master Sets include a physical one-litre bottle, signed by master blender Walker, and an NFT version (digital version) of the bottle. The set also comes with a digital art piece by AI artist and photographer Ivona Tau.

Johnnie Walker originates from Scotland and has grown to become a classic brand of Scotch whisky. This beverage has a distinctive flavour, which is often described as rich, dark, and almost creamy — a great whisky for connoisseurs. While blended Scotch is smooth and buttery, single malt Scotch is oaky, with more of a woody flavour. The flavour is smoky due to the barley being exposed to the peat smoke during production, and if you are a fan of this distinctive flavour, you will enjoy our selection of Johnnie Walker whiskies. Tasting notes include creamy wood notes, vanilla, soft smoke, spiced apples and aromas of peach and berries.

The Speyside distillery of Pittyvaich, which opened in 1974, closed its doors in 1993 after only 18 years in operation making its former whiskies a rarity. In addition to Pittyvaich, other ghost whiskies in the blend include whiskies from Port Dundas and Carsebridge. Rounding out the blend are rarities from (operating) distilleries in Speyside: Mannochmore, Auchroisk, Cragganmore, and Strathmill, plus the Highland whisky of Royal Lochnagar.

The whisky is then blended with rare Scotch from Cameronbridge, Glenkinchie, Clynelish, Dailuaine and Auchroisk.

Naturally, there’s a lot more than Port Dundas in this blend, so I’ll let the House of Wlaker tell you some more about it all: No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service.

Standard bottles of the annual release — without the signature or digital components — will be released nationwide in October. This whisky also marks the first Ghost and Rare expression from Johnnie Walker master blender Dr Emma Walker, who took over from Dr Jim Beveridge OBE who retired earlier this year. The distillery, located on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal, shipped its whisky from Glasgow to ports worldwide for almost 200 years. It was built in 1811, but closed in 2010.When compared with other Johnnie Walker blends, Ghost and Rare is not terribly elaborate in terms of the number of distilleries represented. In my opinion, this makes it all the more intriguing. Truth be told, I’ve never really been one to celebrate the marrying of malts and grains from dozens of distilleries into one bottle. When it comes to blends, less is often more–especially when “less” is of the highest quality. Whiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”). The limited edition Johnnie Walker Ghost and Rare series is crafted using irreplaceable "ghost" whiskies and other incredibly rare expressions from the unparalleled Johnnie Walker reserves used to create the award-winning Johnnie Walker Blue Label. This latest release explores the character of exceptional and rare whiskies from one of world's most famous Grain Whisky distilleries, the Glasgow "ghost" distillery of Port Dundas.
