About this deal

It brings my attention into focus of a time I have only experienced in photography, fashion and literature. The indolic rawness in contrasting against the deepest, most red cherries jubilee roses that should have been a dessert named for it! Those who are looking for a nice everyday scent may find it cheaper. Jennifer Lawrence is surely an expensive advertising partner, the customer must then also "pay"! The opening is an elegant rush of tuberose and jasmine, indolic but in a clean way if that makes any sense--lending a high pitch rather than a dirty note. Plans are abandoned for 'something new'. A very millennial approach. Not all customers are Millenials. We don't all want syrupy, synthetic fruitichoulis everyday of the week. We even mourn Chanel with their insipidly weak formulations now.

The bottle is of a classic design, modest and straight out of a 1940's movie, like something on the dresser table of Rita Hayworth, who was herself a hardcore perfumista. The aroma that opens the fragrance is definitely aldehydes but it's not listed as a note here. The original was an aldehyde similar to No. 5 but it's much more subdued and softened with a light fresh citrus. The citrus then leads to the citrusy floral of roses which often do smell like oranges. Right from the start one smells May rose, as well as a cold Bulgarian rose. It's also green like the greenery of rose bushes. The floral air is not powdery but evocative of the greenhouse or flower shop. The dewy wetness of water on roses. Serene and demure, lady like, but sober and conservative, not airy, not too sweet, not too youthful. It has a proper English lady air and as such it suits me. Ode is similar to Patou's Joy but creamier, with a tinge of fruitiness that almost tastes like a plum. Within an hour, there's a little sourness too. Two and a half hours later, and my idyllic stroll around those spectacular gardens may have been a day dream. On my skin, Joy becomes increasingly metallic. There's still a little powder there, but it's staring to smell like a wet, wire scourer. Are all my joys over? As time presses on, my skin brings out the absolute worst of Joy, it makes a mess of the lasting base notes.

And like others, I get a resemblance to L'Air du Temps, my mother's signature scent ... both have a bright lemon-like quality to me, although L'Air du Temps is airy whereas Joy is creamy. Joy is composed primarily of a combination of jasmine and rose; 10,000 jasmine flowers and 28 dozen roses are required to create 30ml of the parfum, contributing to its high retail price. [4] Joy also contains other flowers such as ylang ylang, champak, and tuberose. Given its many ingredients, Joy does not smell like a specific flower. According to Luca Turin, "the whole point of its formula was to achieve the platonic idea of a flower, not one particular earthly manifestation." Joy is a floral fragrance that is widely loved and appreciated. In a situation where you cannot lay your hands on a bottle, you can go for any one of the perfumes that are similar to it.

The bottle is like nail polish, the white florals are lovely and they blend well with the other florals. Its is lovely in winter and fall and is reasonably priced. My box reads: Joy Eau de ref. n. 1203 . Box made in France; bottom right corner: '702' This is a 30 ml or 1 ounces. Big money offered for the brand assets to wipe them out?
