At first glance especially with the gorgeous pink front cover i said to myself this is a typical romance story. However i finished the book with a totally different opinion as it covered some heavy topics such as online dating, deception,grief and loss, romance related fraud as well as loneliness. Ik word altijd blij als er een nieuwe roman van Jane Fallon verschijnt, want haar verhalen zijn altijd zo sterk, maar ik zal dan maar meteen eerlijk zeggen dat ik dat bij dit verhaal niet had. What I mean is, although it is a YA book, it was clearly written for younger younger adults. This is not a bad thing, but the writing was pretty cut and dry for my taste. It is geared more towards the younger tween reader. Just Got Real is possibly my favourite Jane Fallon offering to date. If you love a feel-good story with female friendship at the heart, with a hint of revenge and a plot that gets you completely invested; Just Got Real is definitely one for you. However, I do have to offer a caution: A scene where AJ tries on a prom dress makes multiple references to her undergarments, including a mention of a logo on her panties. While female readers probably won't mind that, anyone with a "Y" chromosome may be led into lustful thoughts by that scene.Meanwhile, Kate, queen bee of the school is quietly freaking out about several things. How to keep things steady with her fake boyfriend, making certain her under bees remain in awe of her and most important, riding herd on everything involved with ensuring the perfect prom happens. I've read - and loved - ALL of Jane Fallon's books, but Just Got Real is her best yet! Especially gorgeous on female friendship' MARIAN KEYES Ingenious. Her eye for detail, compressed emotion and the absurdity that lurks beneath what people say to each other, is unerring. Normaal gesproken komt Jane altijd met een heel sterk plot, maar dat ontbrak deze keer voor mijn gevoel. Ook de laatste hoofdstukken vond ik een beetje overbodig. Dus ze maakt een profiel aan, maar gebruikt daarin de foto’s van haar zus. Als Ant haar mee uitvraagt, durft ze hem niet te bekennen wat ze gedaan heeft, dus doet ze alsof ze hem laat zitten om hem vervolgens ‘als zichzelf’ te ontmoeten.
