I’ve been using this compact foundation for a good month now and I haven’t been able to put it down ever since. It’s great for everyday wear and provides just the right amount of coverage to even out my skin tone without resulting in a cakey finish (and thanks to the buildable coverage, I can easily switch it up to the full glam mode in an instant). Instead, I’m left with what I can only describe as the closest you can get to that blurred “ cloud skin” look (which is, by the way, one of the biggest beauty trends of 2023). The best part is that it feels incredibly weightless and comfortable on the skin and doesn’t crease throughout the day. To sculpt and contour, use a concealer 1-4 shades lighter than your skin tone to highlight, & another 1-4 shades darker to contour. Apply lighter shade down the nose, under the eye and centre of the forehead to illuminate. Use the darker shade to add dimension to your face, contouring your cheekbones, jawline and hairline While it might be tempting to apply your foundation with your hands, if you really want to make it last, it's best to apply it with a clean brush or sponge as the oils from your hands can break down the foundation. And read the emphasis on a clean brush. A dirty brush can harbor as much oils as your hands and lead to a streaky application. However, if you can find the perfect set of products that work with this foundation, it could be a winner. I sadly, did not.Before applying foundation, Mayo recommends prepping your skin by taking the time to cleanse and exfoliate any dry, rough patches. While facial oils offer many beauty benefits, it's best to avoid using any products with oils in the AM since they can break down your foundation. Truth be told, I wasn’t always into powder foundations. As someone who has dry skin, I usually steer clear of anything that could be too drying and cakey, and I’m definitely more accustomed to setting powders as opposed to full-coverage compacts. Fun and cruelty-free brand Too Faced's Born This Way foundation - an oil-free foundation which offers medium to full coverage for a natural and "flawless makeup look", has long been my favourite. It's a buildable formula that easily converts to full coverage, without the dreaded cakey consistency associated with some products. The foundation is said to have a 'skincare infused formula' formulated with Glycerine, Matcha and Niacinamide for 'visibly even' and 'radiant' skin. My skin has a tendency to look dull, especially in the morning, so these ingredients sounded really appealing to me.
