About this deal

On top of all that, there's no indication that Charlie's grandma or any of her sisters have any kind of power. It's stated that they're powerful, but there's no power actually mentioned or even alluded to. They can't even figure out how to get into Ben's house to look for the case they want (for some reason) - four supposedly powerful adults can't figure out how to get past a relatively gullible 10-12 year old kid who is perpetually home alone. There was also a spin-off series released in 2011, chronicling the story of the Red King and his family. Emma Tolly also chooses to return to Bloor's Academy after her hypnotic trance is broken, for exactly the same reason as Charlie. Billy Raven has been adopted by a mysterious and evil couple called the de Greys. The de Greys are endowed and have created a force field to trap him on the weekends to prevent him escaping. A distant relative of Billy's tries to adopt him, but ends up sacrificing himself to save Charlie's Uncle Paton. Manfred and Ezekiel brew trouble for all the endowed children. However, Ezekiel accidentally resurrects the Red King's wife Berenice, in the form of a white horse, when attempting to revive the King's evil son Borlath. Olivia Vertigo finds out she is endowed, with the ability to create illusions

I really loved this book. Number one reason why I love this book was because of my little cousin who is eight. He loves Harry Potter as do I. I let him read the first 3 Harry Potters but once Harry started getting older and the plot became darker, I felt like it was not age appropriate, yet. I had a really hard time getting my little cousin into another book series until I stumbled on this series. As great as Harry Potter is the older books might not be age appropriate for younger children. Not only age appropriate but those book get pretty big and it might be a hard read for little kids. So I Loved this book because it was a great read plus younger kids like my little cousin could enjoy it. It is about the size of the first Harry Potter so we read it together.

Chekhov's Gunman: Mr. Pilgrim, who in the fifth book is revealed to be Lyell Bone, Charlie's ten-years-estranged father. He's also the Red Knight.

Chronic Hero Syndrome: Timoken (aka The Red King), shown when he rescues Beri, Edern, Gereint, Peredur, Mabon and others from slavers in The Secret Kingdom. At the very end, I willingly said 'Goodbye! And GOOD RIDDANCE!' to Grandma Bone/Grizelda, Venetia, Lucretia, Eustacia, Titania Tilpin/Mrs Tilpin/Miss Chrystal, Ezekiel and company. And I UNwillingly said 'bye :(' to the series. It's finished and it was great. Laser-Guided Amnesia: Lyell Bone and Emma Tolly have this as a result of their hypnotization. Later on in Blue Boa, Samuel Sparks also loses his memories when he is hypnotised by Yolanda Yewbeam. Really 700 Years Old: Yolanda Yewbeam, who's over one-hundred years old by the time of her appearance in Blue Boa but looks like a little girl, and also her father Yorath.

Did we miss something on diversity?

I Am Who?: Charlie is surprised to find that he is descended from Mathonwy through his mother's family, and thus is the rightful owner of the wand Claerwen.
