About this deal

We hope you found this guide helpful, feel free to get in touch on our live chat if you have any questions on the best lube for your bike!

Apply a moderate amount of Bio Dry Chain Lube to the inside chain link while spinning pedals in a reverse motion ZFC says immersive waxing and re-waxing at 300km intervals, or after every wet ride, can extend a chain’s lifespan to around 15,000km – about three times as long as what is typically achieved with standard drip lubes. This also helps massively extend the lifespan of the other, more expensive drivetrain components such as cassettes and chainrings.

Types of chain lube

For wet conditions, the winner is slightly less clear cut, but we’d still recommend waxed-based lubricants for their efficiency. Crucially, however, you’ll have to be prepared to clean your chain immediately after wet rides to prevent corrosion.

In summer conditions, there can be benefits in applying a dry lube less frequently, as this will prevent the build-up of grime on your chain, which can speed up wear. How do I apply chain lube?

Support us

It's only fair to point out that Muc-Off only rate this lube for use in dry to damp conditions, so the torrential downpour that hit me on the first ride was over and above what you'd expect it to cope with. Muc-Off proudly describe it as biodegradable. For 'biodegradable' read 'water soluble' and sure enough the first application only lasted 36 miles and one shower. The second application managed to struggle on for 67 miles but after another wet commute the chain mice started singing again. That's pretty poor mileage and although your chain runs nice and clean, the trade-off in longevity isn't worth it.
