About this deal

Yesterday's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer has generated a lot of excitement among fans. However, perhaps the biggest talking point has been our first look at the dozens of Spidey Variants who will be part of Miles Morales' apparent Multiversal war with Spider-Man 2099. Jay Thakur shared some early ideas and experimentation for the Spot from 2019 when the film was in pre-production. Here’s how just one of the film’s scenes evolved from initial sketch to fully realised concept art, as Miles ( voiced by Shameik Moore) heads underground with his uncle Aaron (Mahershala Ali) to practice his street art – and ends up the unwitting victim of a fateful spider bite… Chain reaction You can see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's alternate designs for Prowler (via Toonado.com) in the video below! @im.living.dead Replying to @Rwd_draw here’s our boy 🫡🫡 #acrossthespiderverse #spiderverse #spidermanacrossthespiderverse #marvel #sony #artbook #milesgmorales #earth42 #prowler ♬ Across the Spider-Verse (Start a Band) - Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - Daniel Pemberton

I’m grateful that I had the chance to contribute to this project and meet some seriously talented, inspirational people. Congrats to the entire team for all the hard work. Felicia Chen Yeah, and [the design] is what it had to be, if we wanted to celebrate Miles the way we did. It gave us an opportunity to not only create these other universes, but then to show how each one is unique and special unto itself. It really comes from a love within the crew for all these different styles. For Ham, it was very much an homage and celebration [of things like] Pigs is Pigs (WB, 1937), and classical animation. I got to do a lot of the noir stuff, and I was pulling from a lot of John Paul Leon, heavy ink comic books. SP//dr is very Kill la Kill. Our crew — and especially our production designer, Justin K. Thompson — are the biggest art nerds in the world. They would get so excited about taking the look there. Thankfully, [producers] Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and [directors] Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, Rodney Rothman are all these talented creatives that say, “Oh, we have to do it! We have to take advantage of this opportunity!” Please allow me to explain about my mysterious roll in Sony´s “ In to the spiderverse” film as a "Visual Consultant"

We’re blessed to live in a time where there there’s an acceptance towards variety in design. That’s all we can ask from the world of designers, to keep trying to do something different. Just like Miles, you do have to do it your own way. In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

When the Kingpin’s initial plan succeeds, the Spider-Verse is momentarily merged in one of the film’s most abstract, eye-catching sequences – as this concept art shows. Rogue’s gallery The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac. Aritst Kristafter Anka is credited with this Spider-Man 2099 suit design, but according to a visual development artist who worked on Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Jake Panian, he states:

SPIDER-MAN: Live-Action Miles Morales Movie Reportedly Moving Forward

Entertainment We spend hours watching and reviewing the latest movies, shows and music releases so you don’t have to. As revealed in previous concept art showing Earth-42's Miles' evolution from vigilante to The Prowler, it's clear this version of Miles and Aaron aren't meant to be straight villains. However, because Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will lead directly into Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, it makes sense the movie added a mysterious angle to them, where some audience members will be left speculating whether they are good or bad. That is the whole point of having a cliffhanger that will have an ambiguity to it while the audience waits for the next installment. We first met Jake Johnson's Peter B. Parker in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, with the broken-hearted web-slinger left with no other choice than to lend Miles Morales a helping hand. Did you notice in the trailer that older Peter Parker, voiced by Jake Johnson, is wearing a baby carrier? Well, it seems as if he and Mary Jane had a baby and this concept art refers to her as “Mayday.” That’s significant because in the comics, Mayday aka May Parker, grows up to be a Spider-Woman. Maybe that happens in the next film. Image: Sony Pictures

Very early, So early that I had an entire empty huge massive 2nd floor just for myself, and it was like that for few months. No Directors or Producer was attached to the film at that point yet.The shots that we produced with an incredible technical team were some of the most amazing thing Ive seen, and Im extremely proud of them and the team involved. With those shots we open a door to a pipeline and possibilities and help to estimate the overall film. Oh, constantly. But there was an understanding throughout the team, and ultimately the production at large, that it’s not simply about coming up with the greatest idea. It’s about the best idea for the project. A lot of times you’re doing work to figure out what isn’t going to go in the film. We have artwork for things that would have been really cool, but would have left the audience asking way too many questions, and taking us down a rabbit hole that is not necessary to tell the story of Miles and the other Spiders. As a result, you never get bummed, or turned off when a great idea that you all really believed in just doesn’t fit, because in the end it’s all about the whole. Just after the movie’s release, people from the visual development and art department have begun sharing their work for the sequel on various social media platforms. Kevin's post contains four distinct images featuring a landscape of a world dominated by the Sinister Six. For instance, there are places with the names "Goblin's Palace" and "Villain Institution," as well as various graffiti arts which reads: "No tomorrow,""This World is Wild,""Live Without Dignity," and "Out of Patience," among others. The post is captioned as: "Earth-42 world exploration. Early concept where I was trying to portray a world with no Spider-Man and where the Sinister 6 are running the city." Im really happy to see that most of my shots on this early boards made it to the final film. Again I would like to congratulate the whole team that finished the final film for preserving the compositions and the original intention of these shots. It shows that everyone felt inspired and that they really cared for this particular vision.
