About this deal

Riden - Alosas love interest and partner in crime - was a great character with a beautiful personality. He was kind, loyal and the love he had for Alosa was so sweet. Just like the first book, I was completely bewitched by this one and I rate it 5 stars with any hesitation whatsoever. I hated this book so much. I don't think there was a moment while reading this when I didn't feel like complaining about something. I really wanted to like it since the premise sounded so interesting and it also had one of my all-time favourite troupes, but in the end, this was a big letdown for me. OMG so good!!! I love this book <3 Honestly it is probably one of my favorite books this year! As I had mentioned before, I am no fan of the cover. So I ended up just reading getting the ePUB, but man I adore this book so much I might buy a hard copy despite my dislike for the cover. And Riden. A definite swoon worthy love interest. I loved the parts that had both Alosa and Riden together and it gave me so many warm feelings... *sighs*

You know we can’t risk that,” she says. Then she adds abruptly, “More men have boarded the ship. I think they’re headed this way.” Your enchantments last long after your song fades.”-Ryden! Yep, he’s still here. He has a very important role in helping Alosa learn more about herself. This helps their relationship grow in this book in a great way. It’s not always romantic. They also connect in the similarities of their upbringing, which also lets us the readers learn more about them individually. However, this being said, it took me a LONG time to get through this. It wasn't really drawing me in. I didn't find anything super compelling about it. I slide down the street, keeping close to the roughly constructed townhome on my right. The city is asleep at this hour. I haven’t spotted a soul moving about, save Vordan’s men on watch.

Pirate Books

Let me rephrase. If we’re to succeed, you really shouldn’t be seen performing impressive feats with the sword.” But that doesn’t stop me from getting angry. I draw my sword and step toward the first mate. “You could have taken my hand.”

The captain looks about ready to shoot me, but Riden speaks up. “What do we care, Captain, if she wants to get herself all fixed up for us every day? I for one won’t complain.”

Books

In terms of romance, while there is still plenty of sexual tension and romantic moments, I do feel like we lost some of the clever banter between our dear captain and our newly captured Riden. Fortunately, the conversations and further development of our side characters filled some of this void. This time around there was no true obstacle standing in the way of our favorite ship, except for their trust issues. Alosa struggles to fully let Riden in for fear of making herself weak, vulnerable. While Riden refuses to do things in half measures and will not be with Alosa if he cannot have all of her. Her skills as a Captain are put to the test, but there's no denying her fierce nature. Struggling to gain control of her Siren powers, she grows closer to Riden and realizes something about him being near makes her powers easier to handle. He’s one to talk. I may be three years shy of twenty, but I’d bet my sword arm I could best him in any challenge of wits or skill. You have all heard the stories of Jeskor the Headbreaker,” the young pirate captain continues. “I am his son, Draxen. And you will find that my reputation will grow to be far worse.” Me : yeah, but I couldn't help to expect great things about this book. The synopsis sounded like something I would love AND THERE WAS ALSO SLOW BURN ROMANCE AND ENEMY TO LOVER TROPE.

The little boy,” I say, just as Vordan reaches underneath his pillow. For the dagger I’ve already removed. “Time to go, Sorinda.” With this new knowledge of her father's true nature in mind, she decides to set out on her own to claim the booty for herself and her crew. She feels no more allegiance to him. This is definitely a cute story. I enjoyed Alosa's character. She was confident and stubborn, not to mention a real badass. Daughter of the Pirate King has a rather self-explanatory title. Alosa is the daughter of Kalligan, who rules over and terrorizes the seas. But Alosa herself is a tough, no-nonsense pirate captain who can more than hold her own. When her father sends her on a mission to find part of a map that will lead to a secret isle, Alosa must fake her own capture and pretend to be a prisoner as she hunts down the map piece on board a ship led by a ruthless young captain. There's something about a Lady Pirate that I can definitely get behind. The setting was fun and Riden was a swoon-worthy love interest. Riden is the first mate of the ship and is in charge of Alosa's interrogation. There is obviously a relationship developing between them, but it was well done. It is more complex than insta-lust and or simple manipulation techniques. Alosa and Riden's relationship is full of tension, and it's more of a love/hate relationship, with some sexual tension. Honestly, I was not sure if I could trust Riden until the end of the book, even though he seemed really nice and I wanted to like him. His snarky and sarcastic conversations with Alosa were also really funny to read. I value brilliant minds, honest souls, and those with long endurance. I forge relationships based on trust and mutual respect, not fear and control.”The truth in those words is clearly reflected in her relationship with the members of her crew and loyalty and respect they exhibit towards her. It also gives us an opportunity to see Alosa in her well deserved role as captain of her ship.
