Macmillan . Retrieved November 15, 2009. When writing the book Sanderson was assisted by Maria Simons, Jordan's assistant before his death and "right arm", and Alan Romanczuk, the series continuity manager, together known as "Team Jordan". Sanderson eventually dedicated the book to them, writing that "without [them] this book wouldn't have been possible." When asked what I think Robert Jordan’s greatest skill was, I don’t say worldbuilding or juggling a complex narrative, though these are certainly two areas in which he excelled. No, I talk about his viewpoints. If there’s one thing I wish to learn from Robert Jordan, it’s how to accomplish this—how to make you feel a character’s culture, history, temperament, and current emotional state by the way they describe the simple things in the world around them. The Dark One's hand, Shaidar Haran, blames Forsaken Graendal for the deaths of three Forsaken (Mesaana, Aran'gar, and Asmodean), and begins to punish her. Lan is flanked by two companions who discuss the current plan. They remind Lan that this is his land. And their words are like an elixir; he bellows defiance to the Shadow army waiting on the other side of the Gap, naming himself Lord of the Seven Towers, Defender of the Wall of First Fires, Bearer of the Sword of the Thousand Lakes, and then rejecting the title Aan'allein in favor of his true title: King of Malkier. He sends one last powerful sensation of love to his wife and starts the charge. The sun has begun to set upon the Third Age. And trials by fire await those fighting against the darkness that encroaches from their enemies—and within themselves... In the wolf dream, Perrin agrees to be taught by Hopper. Galad explains to the Lords Captain his plan to ally with the Aes Sedai. Byar’s scouts capture Gill’s caravan. The prisoners confess to following Perrin’s army. Bornhald tells Galad that Perrin killed Bornhald’s father.

Jordan, Robert (March 24, 2006). "Sorry About the Premature Announcement". Robert Jordan's Blog. Dragonmount . Retrieved April 11, 2009. Worse comes to worst, I will finish A Memory of Light, so the main story arc, at least, will be completed Elayne and her honor guard ride into Cairhien. They proceed to the Sun Throne, also accompanied by Bertome and Lorstrum’s troops. An Aes Sedai announces that Rand cedes the throne to Elayne. Birgitte inspects the Sun Throne before Elayne sits and finds a poisoned needle. Elayne takes the throne and announces that the forces of Andor and Cairhien will march together to the Field of Merrilor to meet Rand. He is grateful for this new revelation. So grateful that he contrives as powerful a sending as he can make it, to Boundless, and then the rest of the wolf brothers who can hear him: himself as Perrin and himself as Young Bull, standing side by side on a hilltop, their scents the same, followed by a most humble, most profound and most sincere, "thank you."

Towers of Midnight (abbreviated ToM) is the thirteenth and penultimate book in The Wheel of Time series. The working title Shifting Winds was adopted for a time, [1] but the name was replaced at Brandon Sanderson's urging in September 2009. [2] Towers of Midnight - Chapter 02_57 - Questions of Leadership-683452970 Towers of Midnight Audiobook - TWOT Book 13 Moving through Ghealdan, Perrin Aybara and his followers encounter the Children of the Light, of whom Jaret Byar and Dain Bornhald accuse Perrin (correctly) of killing two of their colleagues. When Galad Damodred discovers his stepmother Morgase Trakand among the refugees, Galad and Perrin agree to a trial with Morgase as the judge under Andoran law. Perrin reveals his ability to speak with wolves and claims as his defense the fact that the two men killed his wolf friends; but Morgase judges Perrin guilty of "illegal killing" under an obscure law governing mercenaries. Perrin agrees to abide by Galad's ruling after Tarmon Gai'don; but Galad does not immediately pronounce sentence.

List Chapter or Page (291):

The series' storyline has been leading up to the "Last Battle" (Tarmon Gai'don)—a fight between the forces of Light and Shadow. According to prophecy in the series the primary protagonist Rand al'Thor, as the Dragon Reborn, will "fight the [battle]", and must be present for the forces of Light to have a chance at winning and stopping the being known as the Dark One, the primary antagonist, from escaping his prison. [2] [3] [4] The title can be taken as a literal reference to the The Towers of Midnight fortress-complex in Imfaral, a city in Seanchan, which has thirteen towers and is thus a reference to the number of the book. It is also a reference to a part of the Prophecies of Shadow, after the Epilogue, which mentions the Towers of Midnight, mostly in regards to Perrin Aybara.

To prevail, he must find a way to master the wolf within him or lose himself to it for ever. He calls the wolf by his human name: " Noam." Boundless' mind vanishes, but Perrin now knows where to find him, and goes there; the place in the sending--a small village, barn and a cage. Once he arrives, they converse, Perrin as his human self, Noam as his wolf self. During that conversation, Perrin comes to realize that Noam chose the wolf dream over the waking world because his life was filled to bursting with pain. "The wolf is peace," Boundless/Noam says. Perrin realizes something about balance, for Elyas, for Noam, and for himself and he comes to an epiphany: the wolf dream will never take him. Oh, it has its own dangers when he loses control, but that fear he had been nurturing since the day he let Noam free, the fear that some day the wolf dream would overcome him, just as he thought it had done in Noam's case, was a false fear. He has found that final thing that he needed to understand.

I’m the culprit of numerous small mistakes, most of which there is no time to point out. The biggest flaw in my writing of Towers of Midnight, however, has to be the chronology. has four points of view, two of which are from Perrin Aybara's POV. His first is 26% of the chapter and his second is 53% of the chapter. Robert Jordan has created a fantasy world as tangible and credible as history. He has a fine eye for detail and a vivid sense of drama.” — Morgan Llewelyn
