About this deal

Through a blend of immersive learning experiences and practical training, you will acquire the skills and expertise needed to excel in a range of roles within this field. You will develop research, creative, problem-solving, teamwork and interpersonal skills, and increase your industry knowledge by visiting various destinations in the UK and possibly overseas. BTEC Nationals are widely recognised by industry and higher education as the signature vocational qualification at Level 3. They provide progression to the workplace either directly or via study at a higher level. If you are 16-18 years old on the31stAugust in the current academic year, this course is usually Free.

Approximately half of our students go on to jobs or apprenticeships and the other half go on to university. You will also gain valuable work experience skills for future employment. the qualification you wish to study isn’t on the approved list of level 3 qualifications the College can run for free. The qualification you have chosen to study is part of the Legal Entitlements list and you are aged 19-23 at the start of your course and you do not already have a qualification at Level 3 or higher. From April 2021, any adult aged 24 and over who wants to achieve their first full level 3 qualification will be able to access certain courses we run for free.

The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism is designed for post-16 students with an interest in travel and tourism who want to continue their education through applied learning and who aim to progress to higher education. The qualification is equivalent in size to one A level and is designed to occupy one-third of a typical study programme, which could include other vocational or academic qualifications, such as another BTEC National or A levels. This qualification gives a broad introduction to the travel and tourism industry, with an emphasis on core knowledge and fundamental skills that are transferable across other sectors. Global destinations are a key aspect of travel and tourism and their appeal is strongly influenced by factors such as their location, access and changing trends. Students will use a range of resources to investigate the location and features of global destinations. They will evaluate how travel routes and itineraries meet customer needs and investigate consumer trends and the reasons the popularity of global destinations may change.
