About this deal

Well since I'm not masochistic it was a downright disgusting and painful read, but I really wanted to rate it so I barreled through. She also injects humor into her stories, which can help lighten the suspenseful atmosphere that her books create. I am sooooo looking forward to reading more books from MZ- I don’t know why I was so afraid before 🤦🏻‍♀️😂😅. My rib cage clenched all of the organs and muscles within it. It pulsed, full of life and warmth and gummy bears and glitter. This was... I don't know how to explain it—it was like Christmas morning when you were a kid. It was everything I’d wanted.

And he answered the way I knew he would every single time I asked him from them on, the way that told me he would never let me down. That he was an immovable object. That he'd always be there for me to battle the demons we could see and the invisible ones we couldn't.

Writing Style: Mariana is popular for her slow-burn romance style, which is engaging, emotional, and relatable. Iris, like many main female characters, have beer flavored nipples. She cannot leave her home without guys assaulting her left, right and center. And I hate how those moments (they're many btw) feel so incredibly choreographed, because it's only so Dex can show up and get in the guy's face and save the day. What hit me immediately inside was all the natural light in the place. The orange-yellow light streaming in set off the dozens of framed newspaper and magazine articles mounted on the tinted blue wall. One magazine article immediately caught my attention with its glassy, red font proclaiming “Ink of the Year.” Over the next few weeks they slowly start to get to know each other, slowly becoming friends and then more. It was lovely to watch their relationship change and grow from where it first started. Good pacing: Her books are well-paced, and the storylines develop gradually, reaching a satisfying conclusion.

This man never did anything without a reason. And this reason had him resembling a mama bear. A really aggressive, possessive mama bear. Which said something because Dex was normally that way. I couldn't even sit around Mayhem without him or Sonny within ten feet. I don’t know who you’re talking about.” It wasn’t like whatever man they were referring to had ‘Anger Issues’ tattooed on his forehead. I hadn’t even seen him yet. Though Iris was really shy, and a beginning.. a pushover, she never did get on my nerves. Recently, I've been feeling real judgy towards heroines. I just find something that always bothers me. Thinking about it now, I don't think I was ever like that with Iris. Well.... In case you were wondering, I got my money's worth on this book!!! It was long, not too long, loved the characters. Following the success of One Night on the Island, Josie released follow-up novels like The Two Lives of Lydia Bird and One Day in December.

By this time I was missing Aiden and Van and Kulti and Sal were still on my mind but I needed to move on.... Dang MZ also accentuated Dex's Texan accent 🥺 Y'all I got so despo that I had to Google how Texan accent sounds like 😭

The "love scenes" were simmering with so many beefy and meaty shafts, as well as mushroom and bulbous heads, that I wasn't sure if the characters were making love or cooking Beef Stroganoff. One of the things I didn’t love about the book was Iris is a little bit too whiny for me because she’s been through so much. Iris is not one of those perfect characters, but I loved seeing that. I suggest you read it and have your own opinion because it’s worth the try. It’s also one of Mariana’s least slow burns. 3. Kulti She fights these feelings, knowing that if things become too awkward between them, she can easily leave the situation. R.S. Grey is a beloved contemporary New Adult author known for her humorous novels that feature strong alpha males and the journey from hate to love and from friends to lovers. It is rare I like the heroine as much as the hero in a book, but I really liked Iris, with her insults and "That's what she said" jokes and high fives. There was just something very endearing about her. Kulti is about soccer and follows Sal Casillas, a soccer player. Since she was a kid, she has been obsessed with a soccer player named Reiner Kulti. She loved watching him play and got the biggest crush on him. He was part of why she was so confident in becoming a soccer player. Years later, Sal becomes a professional player, and Kulti becomes her coach. So what do you do when the guy you worshiped as a kid becomes your coach? What do you do when he’s not at all that you expect when he’s the rudest, grumpiest? She draws readers in with her witty and humorous stories like The Roommate, which feature modern characters dealing with the hilarious problems that come with moving out of your parent’s house into an adult world full of new experiences. This couple does have a somewhat slow buildup. They don't get intimate until the last half of the book. I didn't really mind that because the author didn't bore with unnecessary details. For an MC book, this book doesn't have much angst, and again I'm totally ok with that. I’d done boring and monotonous since the moment I turned sixteen by working at a real estate agency, then a discount bookstore, followed by sales for a weight loss pill, dog sitting, watching over kids at a daycare center, and filing at a medical practice. I did what I had to do to pay the bills. So as long as I wasn’t prostituting or having to make collection calls, I’d pretty much take whatever I could get.
