How to use Total Wood Preserver

Wood preserver is designed to be applied on freshly sawn or sanded wood. You’ll get the best out of it if you sand down whatever wood you use it on, or at least pressure-wash and scrub it.

Freshly cut sawn ends should be thoroughly treated with either Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver, or alternatively Barrettine End Grain Preserver No subsequent topcoat is required unless for aesthetic purposes. Barrettine Wood Preserver is for outdoor use and also for use on windows/frames, external doors/frames (internal & external sections). The Barrettine Wood Preserver Clear can also be used on structural timbers in unoccupied areas such as floor joists. Barrettine’s preserver does contain some wax for water resistance, but despite this it acts as a good base for paint and varnish. It is moisture regulating and provides an adhesive surface for subsequent treatment with finishing paints or stains (top coat).
