About this deal

Garcia dazzles as Castaño in A Private Affair. His character is late to the party but not without surprises. The actor never seems in a hurry and offers enough moments to devour his representation. I felt he should have been given more screen time to further lure the audience. What Doesn’t Work for A Private Affair? The basic premise of the story is that she can't be a policeman because she is a woman and certainly that is a credible storyline. The problem here is that the way THIS particular woman is behaving, I can't really blame the Glacian police for having nothing whatsover to do with her. That's the problem with the whole story. She might be clever enough to figure out clues, but she then is seen chasing the bad guy who is twice her size barefoot across a rooftop after losing her gun and then helping him not to fall to his death so he can then attempt to kill her? Is anybody really that stupid? That was the final straw. It was just stupid and decided enough was enough and we wouldn't be watching any furhter.

Director: Paolo Taviani. Screenplay: Paolo Taviani, Vittorio Taviani, freely inspired by the novel “Una questione private” by Beppe Fenoglio. Camera (color, widescreen): Simone Zampagni. Editor: Roberto Perpignani. Music: Giuliano Taviani, Carmelo Travia. A sense of trepidation crept over me while I was reading, that far off sense of fear that cannot be places. She is accompanied on her adventure by her faithful butler Héctor, a kind of Watson who is always attentive to details, helpful and audacious, who manages to turn Marina’s investigations around. She, for her part, will often be forced to fight to remove the obstacles that stand in her way because of her gender bias and the unusualness of a female figure with her abilities and ambitions. We cannot fail to point out the versatility of this actress, who here gives her character a much more stubborn, mischievous and clumsy nuance, separating it completely from her previous work. It could be said that she comes close to being unfriendly if it weren’t hers because with her innocent face she always gets away with it.

The casting is solid (who knew famous French actor Jean Reno was also fluent in Spanish!), but the characters are deliberately dumbed down to ensure that Marina comes across as the only intelligent person in the show. The story is set up in the 1940s in Galicia, therefore the series has maintained a very vintage and chic vibe. The series takes us through how a young lady called Marina Quiroga, an upper-class woman, who hates how society works by giving men the dominating power sets out to prove herself and achieve her dreams by catching a serial killer who has been a threat to her city for a long time. She is also accompanied by her butler in this mission. Aura Garrido plays the role of Martina Quiroga whereas Hector the butler (a man who always can help Martina conclude the investigation) is played by Jean Reno. I'd been looking forward to this since it was announced but it turned out to be such a disappointment. It was almost another very good Spanish series (there are so many of them) but, sadly, it misses the mark badly. Palenzuela, Fernando S. (16 September 2022). "Aura Garrido ('Un asunto privado'): "Marina y Amelia Folch no se parecen, de carácter son totalmente opuestas" ". FormulaTV.As to the keystone comedy type chase scenes and some of the other supposedy amusing touches. Unnecessary and they don't work in what should have and could have been a serious piece of drama and been directed and written that way.

This was great fun: beautiful photography, well-acted, with the crisp pace of action comedies of an earlier era. Aura Garrido in the starring role gave a sparkling, magnetic performance, and her costar Jean Reno was solid as ever, with excellent chemistry between the pair. Ángela Molina as Garrido's mother doesn't have a large role, but holy cow she's a good actor, and every bit as beautiful as she was in the Bunuel films of the 70s. Keep reading my review to know how several other things fare for A Private Affair. A Private Affair Synopsis The show is fascinating and also thrilling, to some extent, thanks to the layered plot. Furthermore, it gives you enough reasons to cherish the surroundings of the 1940s. Luca Marinelli, Lorenzo Richelmy, Valentina Bellè, Francesca Agostini, Jacopo Olmi Antinori, Antonella Attili, Giulio Beranek, Mario Bois, Marco Brinzi, Fabrizio Colica, Mauro Conte, Fabrizio Costella, Lorenzo Demaria, Andrea Di Maria, Guglielmo Favilla, Anna Ferruzzo, Giuseppe Lo Piccolo, Vincenzo Nemolato, Tommaso Maria Neri, Alessandro Sperduti, Francesco Testa, Francesco Turbanti, Josafat Vagni. The writers have done a great job in preparing a fulfilling tale. Though I initially expected the series to explore a different case in each episode, it instead went on to focus on one religiously, which works well. Additionally, the show manages to avoid dull moments for the most part. The staging, in this sense, sometimes seems very unnatural due to its excessive theatricality. Everything is too high and clean, impinging on certain air of unreality that accompanies a ton of chronological licenses. Spain, at the end of the 40s, was immersed in Francoist repression and a woman with the freedom and cheekiness of Marina Quiroga would be inconceivable. I’ll start off by saying that I actually really enjoyed the main characters in this book; however; was a little disappointed when it got to the end and only 3/4 of the characters had actually met. Not only did they not even meet Dani; they were never even aware of her story. Therefore while I really enjoyed Dani’s story; it kind of made her a bit pointless. I was looking forward to seeing how she’d interact with the other 3 but nothing ever materialised so that was quite disappointing.
