About this deal

You have a sharp eye for quality: With a 1080p resolution spread across 15.6 inches, the Meural’s display quality isn’t the best out there. While the Aura Carver Luxe digital photo frame is great, it’s certainly not the best. Aura frames are popular for their high display resolution and free cloud storage. They have a decent mobile app and cloud-only digital frames. You want a distinctive frame: With a basic, generic plastic build, the Aeezo Portrait 01 won’t win any design awards. The Aura Carver Luxe picture frame can hold ~10,000 photos. This amount varies depending on the size, format, and resolution of the photos you choose to send to the frame.

My intention was to use this live photo frame alongside others (such as my NixPlays), but it is too cumbersome to interact with despite the controls and the app. I would like to just upload photos and not worry about the internet or Google Photos. As a result, this will be used to display a select few curated photos for my office desk. Ones where I won't have to worry about rotation as much or be irked by the random pairings of split-screen photos. My wife is a talented amateur photographer that takes pictures often, sometimes daily. Many of her pictures are stores on a tablet or pc. This picture frame will give her the ability to enjoy her pictures once they are uploaded to the device. However, when you’re talking about landscape orientation and aspect ratio, this frame is more suited for portrait presentation. The frame itself has an interesting and unique feel to it. Almost like a clay molding where the surface of the frame is mildly rough, like 400 grit sandpaper. Along the edge of the frame there’s a series of groves that add to it’s uniqueness. Its 4:3 aspect display is perfect for not just adding some color to your room with your photos, but to actually get an up-close look at them. Pixel density is so high they look sharp and detailed even when you get your face right up to the screen. We found that color is natural-looking and well-saturated too, so you can be sure you’re seeing a fair representation of the photos you fling its way.It then takes you to their apps view of your pictures on your phone. You can select one or as many as you want at a time. To add to Aura’s problems, they don’t support USBs or SD cards. Many competing digital picture frames like the Pix-Star offer extensive USB/SD card support, letting you use any USB or SD card size, insert it into the frame, and play slideshows directly. This gives you unlimited offline storage and full control over which files and folders to include in slideshows. I really appreciate the potential that product has. We have a number of hard drives that store the pictures that we have taken over the years. Its cumbersome to look at the sheer number of pictures. You have a limited budget: Clever software and a high-quality screen mean the Mason Luxe comes with a relatively high initial outlay. The Aura Carver frame has a nice finish and look with a very nice display. The intelligent pairing is a nice feature because even if you have pictures from different times, it will still pair them up on the split screen based on similarities in the photos.

I ran into three problems in setup. First, it took over a half an hour and multiple attempts to get the app to find the device, even though I was right next to it. Second, once it did find it, I couldn't connect the frame to my WiFi. I found that the frame only supports 2.4 GHz WiFi protocols. My Eero Pro router is 5.0 GHz. Third, even when I put my Eero Pro in 2.4GHz Legacy Mode, the frame would not connect. The Aura Carver Luxe frame doesn’t work without Wi-Fi; none of Aura’s frames offer offline functionality. The Aura frame range is solely cloud-based. They don’t have internal storage and don’t support USB/SD cards. The frame works fine without Wi-Fi, but key features are only available with a paid subscription, including cloud storage. Despite these reservations, we still think the Skylight Frame is a good choice if you want a statement photo frame. As with other Nixplay frames, the settings menu offers no shortage of customisation options, from colour adjustments to the sensitivity of the motion sensor. Controlled via a physical remote (or the virtual replica in the app), the frame proved responsive and pretty intuitive during our review, even if the high resolution means text can appear small.

The Aura Carver Luxe digital picture frame cannot store any pictures locally on the frame as it does not have internal storage. To counter this loss, Aura offers unlimited cloud storage for all of your photos. Here you can store 10,000+ photos directly in the cloud. I highly recommend this, I look forward to having my kids send lots of pics to it and even more hopeful that before long, they will send pics of grandkids! So, if you’re planning on purchasing a digital landscape frame, then your best option is to go with Aura Carver Luxe. The Carver Luxe might be larger than Mason Luxe, but the difference in resolution presents Mason Luxe to be the better choice for most owners.

It is beautiful as well. It’s 10.1 inches, has a long quality cord and is designed to sit without having a stand. It’s gravel grey in color and it also has a nice rough texture to it that you don’t even notice but it makes it feel more solid. set up is very easy, just install the app, pair and go. You can either dump photos directly into the app, or link to google photos

So, you shouldn’t rely on Mason Luxe if you’re planning on keeping the frame in landscape orientation. In that case, Carver Luxe is the better choice, and there is no point in choosing Mason Luxe. The first time I used the device, it took a little longer than expected to have photos available on Digital Frame; however, it is not taking that long anymore. In our time with the Meural, we found its matte display a genuinely appealing way to display art: it doesn’t look like a repurposed tablet or smart display. However, its color depth isn’t perfect and we think a panel sharper than the Meural’s 1080p screen would be better if you want to really inspect your images. Still, it’s a lovely way to creatively enhance a room.

The app itself also allows you some customization for a photo, you can rotate the photo (but still displayed landscape) or crop/center to adjust what’s in frame. If you’re aiming for a larger frame with a lower resolution, then Carver Luxe is the option for you. One of our favorite things about this frame is how straightforward it is to load photos using the app. You can create playlists using photos from your smartphone, or sync with Google Photos to display AI-generated smart albums. You can also connect with friends to easily add their snaps to your frame. This frame also has the ability to play sound and videos which is somewhat interesting, although videos seem to play at around 10fps. Several familiar names also feature in our round-up, including the likes of Netgear, Google and Meta – Facebook’s parent company. While these brands might be more recognizable than others, that’s no guarantee that their digital photo frames will be the right fit for your specific requirements. That’s why we suggest reading our ranked list thoroughly before choosing a frame. How we test digital photo framesI am an amateur photographer who wants to display some of my best work. I thought having the new Aura - Carver Luxe 10.1'' LCD Wi-Fi Digital Frame would be a great way to display them.
