I also enjoyed the final twist even though some part of the conclusion made my eyes roll, it was somewhat fair ending for the characters truly deserved! I would say for me, there were certain perspectives that I did find more interesting than others, which caused this to lag a wee bit sometimes.

BTW, it’s so strange how several of the family members fell in love with Ben though but also absolutely hated him. Why did Sophie act like she hated him if she kept him alive? Same with Mimi’s reaction about Ben. And what were they planning to do with him? I don’t know if I missed that or it was never explained. Strange. Jess breaks into the apartment to wait and finds a cat covered in blood, and more questions than answers. Can she trust any of the others living in this building to help her find her brother? A BIT ABOUT THE STORY: Jess and Ben were orphaned at a rather young age. They lost their mother after she overdosed, Jess being the one to find her.

And, I was ENCHANTED as I listened to each character voice their secrets and obsessions to me, in wonderful English and French accents- enhancing the experience. The Paris Apartment is a satisfying story of determination and strength. The dual timelines worked very well in this novel. Both were engaging although, Estelle's was way more unnerving for me despite knowing she lived a long life. The tenants are not friendly, appearing guilty and have secrets to hide, but very wealthy. They are all leery of her unexpected appearance and questions. Their plans are set in motion, which include to be rid of Jess. The Concierge knows all their secrets and warns her to stop looking for answers. there's more weight to this one than The Hunting Party/ The Guest List—it's more ambitious in structure and content than the fluffy drawing room-style mysteries that preceded it, and it has a more meaningful story than fancy people getting murdered. not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's good to know she's got more in her than reheating a been-there-done-that plot. The longer Ben stays missing, the more Jess starts to dig into her brother’s situation, and the more questions she has. Ben’s neighbors are an eclectic bunch, and not particularly friendly. Jess may have come to Paris to escape her past, but it’s starting to look like it’s Ben’s future that’s in question.

The Paris Apartment, however, offers up a completely different group of players-to go along with this foreboding atmosphere and I thought it was the BEST of her three to date! But it also left me with plenty of questions too. If Ben knew just exactly what type of business Jacques ran and how toxic he was—why did he want to stay at the apartment? Characters I'm always attracted to books set during WW2. I think it's because it was such a terrible period for humanity but despite it all, there were always people fighting for freedom and justice. So much courage!
