About this deal

Feeling a little more adventurous? Nearby is the Elie Chain Walk– a series of chains fixed along the coast between Shell Bay and West Bay near Elie which you use to climb, scramble and coasteer along the Fife cliffs – kind of like a Scottish Via Ferrata! Just a couple of miles from the links, looking down on St Andrews from within the boundaries of beautiful Craigtoun Park waits a totally different golfing experience. Owned by the Old Course Hotel – one of the most luxurious in Scotland – The Dukes has a heathland feel. Originally designed by Peter Thomson, the course was re-modelled by American architect Tim Liddy. He lengthened a number of holes, softened the edges of the bunkering and changed the finishing stretch. With spectacular views of the town and across the Firth of Tay towards Carnoustie, The Dukes provides an excellent alternative to the links courses on the edge of West Sands.

Crail is a historic fishing town, and the harbour is one of the most photographed harbours in the UK. The High Street in Crail is flourishing with family-run businesses, including butchers, bakeries and grocery stores. If you’re travelling as a family you’ll be pleased to know that the East Neuk of Fife beaches are renowned for their clean sand and they all offer a range of activities for all ages. It’s a lovely townhouse which has all the charm and cuteness you’d expect from its location. I loved the soft shades of the sea that are used throughout the accommodation, but particularly in the kitchen. With the light green wall, natural wood counter, and white shelving it nods to its seaside location without going full steam with shells and anchors. Although I love a bit of that anyway, I’m not gonna lie! All in all, this cottage is lovely! Bowhouse aims to connect small growers and producers with restaurants and shoppers, giving everyone better access to local ingredients and produce. Once you arrive in Crail, you’ll find plenty to see and do. Firstly you can visit the Crail Heritage Museum to find out more about Crail’s history and culture. Then take a wander around the beautiful old streets, visit the church, galleries, speciality shops, and pottery. Finally, take a coastal walk along the cliffs to windswept Fife Ness Lighthouse at Fife’s most easterly point. They wrote: "The eponymous Craig Millar @ 16 West End has a claim to the best views of any restaurant in Fife, thanks to a terrace that spills out over the Firth of Forth and the seas beyond.

Human history is what I’m most drawn to and I really enjoy reading accounts from the fishermen’s wives and the ‘The Herring Lassies’. East Neuk Satellite Map

As with many places along the Fife coast, the easiest way to visit the East Neuk is by car. Each village is easily accessible and in my experience offers plenty of car parking. The drive is very straightforward, especially if you’re near the M90, where you’ll then link to the A917. From there follow the incredibly well sign-posted Fife Coastal Road which connects the East Neuk villages.
