Just listening for the 784,654th time....and it's just perfect in every way. Just incredible. The only reason it was remade was to scoop up a boatload of money from a more modern and accepting audience. But it is a completely different song than the other one that sounds slapped together in a few takes without a thought for the meaning. The world's a bleak dangerous place, 'too many people down, everything turning the wrong way round'.

Damon Albarn lead singer of Blur, is an anti-war campaigner who takes a big interest in oriental and middle eastern styled musical influences. I believe this song is an anti-war protest. a b "Official Scottish Singles Sales Chart Top 100". Official Charts Company. Retrieved 14 June 2020. a b Gilbert, Ben. " 'Out of Time' ". Dotmusic. [7] According to Ben Hillier, who produced the song, the orchestra's work was "astonishing"; he elaborated that "while I was setting the mics up, they started playing. All the chords sounded fantastic. And I looked out at the end of the session, and none of them had headphones on! What they were playing along to, I have no idea. They must have heard it through the door". [6] In February 2003, it was revealed that the album would be titled Think Tank and the lead single "Out of Time" would be premiered on 3 March, on BBC Radio 1, [8] followed by a commercial release on 14 April 2003, by Parlophone. This song captivates me still, after 50+ years. Takes me to the deep South and the poverty of some who lived thru truly hard times. And the powerful spirit of a poor young girl being abandoned to her future with only a red dress and her wits to keep her alive. Coxon: 'I was an a***hole' ". Dotmusic. 4 October 2002.
