About this deal

Chalk paint is so adaptable, you can even use it to paint your old outdoor cushions. Whether you’re just looking for a change or you found some old cushions in a charity shop, chalk paint is a great way to update your cushions without having to buy new covers. Disclaimer: Although non-toxic, do not ingest paint and ensure young children are supervised with the product. Chalk Paint ® Lacquer is your garden furnitures’ best defence not only against peeling paint caused by water damage but also against UV rays and fading colour intensity. Apply Chalk Paint® Lacquer thoroughly to all painted garden furniture. Choose from Matt Lacquer for a matt finish or Gloss Lacquer for a light sheen, but not ultra-glossy, finish. Depending on how often you write and erase on your chalkboard surface, paint touch ups may be required due to natural wear and tear. Don’tsand! As with using Chalk Paint® indoors, there is no need to prep or prime your outdoor furniture.

A chalk paint's coverage claims should be taken with a grain of salt because of how widely varying each project is. Darker woods, for example, will require more product or coats to cover, especially if you’re using a lighter paint color. If you're going for a weathered look, full coverage might not be that important. You might even like the way the wood looks when it shows through. All things considered, 1 ounce of chalk paint will typically cover 1 to 3 square feet. Douse two coats of Lacquer! Apply two thin coats or more of Chalk Paint® Lacquer so you can be sure the entire piece is fully protected to prevent any water ingress. Note that curing time for maximum protection occurs over 14 days. Finally, leave for 3-4 hours for paint to fully dry and harden. Decorating your chalkboard with chalk pens! Don’t sand! As with using Chalk Paint® indoors, there is no need to prep or prime your outdoor furniture. Do know when to Lacquer and when to leave. Chalk Paint®Lacquer is your garden furnitures' best defence against UV rays, fading paint colour, and peeling paint caused by water damage.

This paint dries to the touch in 30 minutes. However, if you’re looking for a more opaque finish, you’ll have to wait at least two hours between coats. While primer isn't necessary with this chalk paint, it is highly suggested for unfinished wood. You also don't need to sand your surface for the paint to adhere. If paint gets on the floor by accident, the latex formula makes it easy to clean up with just soap and water. Open the tin of paint and stir vigorously. Use a paintbrush or roller to apply the product to the furniture, following the natural pattern of the wood. If the furniture is made of another material, apply the product in unilateral strokes, one section at a time. Turn your work or home desk surface into a creative outlet - perfect for designers or architects (or anyone who likes to doodle for that matter!) Alternatively, if you are painting over a varnished or previously painted surface, we would recommend giving it a light sand all the way around as this will help the paint to adhere. Most furniture chalk paints available on the market require no surface preparation and no priming. So while you can skip priming, we recommend to at least clean the surface before applying the paint to improve adherence. Once your furniture is clean, apply your Chalk Paint® colour of choice using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® Brushes for a textured finish or Flat Brushes for a smooth, contemporary finish and allow your furniture to dry (at least 2-3 hours).
