About this deal

T.M.E Walsh certainly delivers on tension. She gets into the heads of her characters really well, especially Charlotte. Undoubtedly she is fearful for her daughter’s safety given what has happened in the town and this is one of the main sources of tension in the book as her daughter rebels against her. I wanted to know what was going to happen to them and there was a strong sense of foreboding which carried through right to the end of the novel, you know that things aren’t going to be plain sailing for Charlotte and her family.

The man wiped his sweaty palm on the recliner’s worn armrest, nodding enthusiastically at the preacher’s words.

It has been a while since I have read a novel which completely funked over my head, so when 'Pretty Little Things' completely funked over my head more than once, I was over the moon in such a weird, weird way. The psychological element of this book was on point! So many dead ends leading to unanswered questions, with the author dropping red herrings left right and centre to keep the readers on their toes; I felt like I was constantly going round in circles! I had no idea who or what to believe, all I wanted to know was who killed those girls. Parents should seek out and read this book. It isn’t necessary to overeact but simply the act of reading this book could help to open some naïve eyes, in both parent and child. It seems the latest plot lines in the suspense/thriller genre is missing children. And rightfully so: for what could be more horrific than an abducted child, or more suspenseful than the search for the abductor? Having said this, Hoffman has managed to take this already-done scenario and give it a well-done brand new twist.

Pretty Little Things is the nail-bitingly terrifying new serial killer thriller from TME Walsh – the perfect read for fans of Close to Home , Behind Her Eyes and The ChildI felt sorry for Charlotte who was obviously suffering from PTSD, However I did not like her. She was very insecure and on the brink of hysteria, I could understand why she wanted to protect Elle but she could not see her behaviour was alienating Elle. I liked Madeleine and her team, I hope if there is another book we find out more about her personal life. Midway suspects emerge. As a reader you go through the whole gamut of obvious people around - John who is just separated from his wife, making a play for Charlotte, then there is Iain in whose garage a toolbox is discovered with keepsakes from each girl who was murdered. At this point it looked very bleak for Iain but the end is not in sight for the detectives who are fearful when another woman this time goes missing. A woman who has harassed Charlotte over and over again even in public. The fact that it is a older person kidnapped makes detectives fear that the killer is now spiralling out of control.
