About this deal

The Help” by Callie Rose is a thrilling high school drama that is infused with a bit of mystery to make for an explosive story. At the opening of the story, Harlow’s mother just got employed as an executive housekeeper necessitating the move to Connecticut from Arizona.

Nothing like a little obsession to put some pep in a girls step (when it’s wanted of course). Then again it’s really the least she deserves after putting her life on the line for a handsome stranger. While struggling to get by heroine Ayla realizes that day two years ago still haunts her in the form of three dangerous men who just keep turning up. Ayla is very very brave though I would argue at times she’s a bit dumb too. She doesn’t think everything through but I think a lot of that has to do with her being unaware until the end what kind of world she’s now been dragged into. Marcus, Ryland (love his name so much), and Theo are our H’s. Marcus is top dog, a bit obsessive, and has the prettiest eyes ever. Ryland is hard and closed off and Theo is our pretty boy that balances them out. I really love reading about female side characters who have some sort of personality other than being a best friend or a jealous ex. Rose loves to read angsty books but when it comes to TV comedies are her bread and butter. She loves reading reverse harem novels which she discovered several years ago and has never stopped reading them. But then they are all brought close together when they witness a tragic event together. They now have to work together to uncover a bizarre mystery even as they protect themselves.Ayla was raised in the foster care system and was raped by her foster father at the age of 15. This isn't really discussed in detail, but we know she tried to take her own life after that. Also, she may or may not have a younger brother. Ayla was 17 when she lost part of her right arm when she jumps in front of bullets meant for a stranger (at the time) named Marcus. The relationship between the FMC and the MMCs also seems more genuine (or as genuine as it can be). Other than the disconnect from the continued character building I have a few *face palm* points that I need to mention👇🏼👇🏼

I could drown in this man, I think. I could fall into the depths of his soul and never resurface. Never want to.” I wish I could keep going since the plot was so good but my one line is monogamy in my romance books and ryland completely destroyed that. eu estou escrevendo isso aqui sem nem saber porque eu dei estrelas. eu devo ter gostado de algo, mas nem lembro mais por motivos de ✨esse livro é totalmente ESQUECÍVEL✨ (depois de um tempo lembrei: literalmente a última cena do livro tem um super plot twist que eu fiquei OMGGGGGGG, but that was it) after the accident, the guy becomes obsessed with the girl who was capable of saving him without knowing who he was. that's why he involves his best friends almost brothers, ryland and theo to help him protecting ayla. The run for there lives with he help of Dominic, who turns out to be Ayla brother Caleb. They all banned together to kill Luca and save themselves from the other gangs chasing them. When Luca is dead they team up together and form a sort of truce gang for the city and each control a section. The twenty six year old author wrote “Savage Royals” her debut novel and first of the “Boys of Oak Park Prep” series in 2019. Since then, she has become a prolific author with more than twenty three novels across more than seven series. All the MC's are 17/18 in the first chapter, and are at a bar drinking and dancing. Maybe all four of them used fake ID's? The bulk of the story takes place 2.5 years after this, so they are all around 22/23.

Ayla comes from foster homes. She's been used and abused, she's been beaten, she has struggled to make a life for herself. Some of the problems I've had with other RH stories is the other female characters. They're either a best friend who's only interested in the FMC and her love life or a jealous bitch who hates the FMC for being with their former partner. Right away from the blurb, I just knew that Sweet Obsession was going to be something special. Something different. And now after reading it, I can tell you that I wasn’t wrong in the least. It is absolutely Callie Rose at her finest and hands down, my favorite book of hers to date. Before I go on, please note there are spoilers so if you don’t want to know what happens, do not read any further. ** Theo is definitely on the list of forever favorites. He was amazing. Marcus and Ryland were solid as well and I thought they made a really solid brotherhood. I can't help but feel Ryland didn't get as much time with Ayla, but it reflects a little on his personality type and so it's not totally unbalanced. There clearly was equal love between all of them. I will skim the end to just see what happens, but honestly I just don't care about these characters anymore. For having romance in this RH, I felt no romantic connection with Ayla with the other two guys besides Marcus, since she rarely hung out with the other two guys.
