About this deal

Flesh Tearers: Flesh Tearers are Blood Angel successors, and therefore need to go looking at Codex Blood Angels and the Blood Angel Getting Started/Start Competing. There are three different Space Marines Combat Patrol starter boxes available; Combat Patrols for each of the Space Wolves, Dark Angels, and Blood Angelswith different models that contain upgrade sprues to make your minis look more like their respective chapters. You can also make a Combat Patrol from the Space Marine half of the Warhammer 40k Starter Set ultimate edition. the Start Collecting! Vanguard Space Marines box comes with seventeen Space Marines, as I'd mentioned, on three different sprues. From the looks of it, all the bits from the different units are mixed up on the sprues, and so it's the buyer's responsibility to read the instruction booklet (which also comes with the box, of course!) and unscramble them in a way that pleases the God-Emperor. Or not, if you're a filthy heretic. Source: Games Workshop What this means in English is that you will want your units ideally within 6″ of the captain, one of the LTs and ancient. They hand out a reroll of 1 to hit, 1s to wound and allow people to shoot or fight when they die on a 4+ respectively. This owns as it makes your units a hell of a lot more effective. The Captain is a punchy monster also.

Tech-priest Dominuses have fallen out of favor recently, which is a shame because Ad Mech still field Vanguard and Rangers on a regular basis to fill out Battalions and the Dunecrawler is a legitimately good unit that sees lots of competitive play. It’s still a great boxed set to start building off of, but some of the savings are mitigated by the fact that you probably won’t want a Tech-Priest Dominus in your army. With the Ultramarines Supplement in hand and some aggressive chapter tactics like Whirlwind of Rage and Stalwart, the spears can make a really fun tactical army that can mount a devastating counter charge or get up in their enemy’s grill if required. A cool list would centre around a bunch of hardened Primars Captains and Lieutenants, riding along a bunch of auto bolt rifle Intercessors buffed with the Veteran Intercessor stratagem. Slap thunder hammers on the veteran intercessor sargeants and throw these squads and the characters into a bunch of shield dome Impulsors. The Lieutenant gives you buff on your wound rolls, so hole him up with the eliminators and watch as they dish out mortal wound after mortal wound with their comically efficient sniper rifles. The infiltrators are great line troops that can do board control/area denial in equal measure. The suppressors give you a decent light anti tank unit with great mobility. Space Marine Terminatorsnow have a chunky toughness of five and 4+ invulnerable save. Their Teleport Homer can be placed anywhere outside the opponent’s deployment zone: during the battle they can deploy close to the Teleport Homer at the end of the opponent’s movement phase, using the new Rapid Ingress Stratagem. They’re not the only unit that will be able to use the Stratagem, but Terminators using a Teleport Homer can do so for no CP. There’s also a good stepping stone towards this on the way to 1500pts – if you take out the second copy of Start Collecting Vanguard and the Phobos librarian, you’re left with just over 1000pts and can get under it while keeping a Battalion by shuffling the model counts on the Infantry.

Shadowspear Unboxing

The Space Marine Rhino armored transport is a little tougher than it was in ninth edition, and regains the ability to self-repair, and for models to fire out of its top hatch as it did in older editions of 40k. The old version of this with the Kabals stuff in felt a lot better than this one does. That said, you can at least get somewhere with this – all of Succubi, Wyches, and Venoms are good units you’ll want for a budding Drukhari army, and Reavers are OK I guess. What would have been really nice is if instead of replacing the old box, we got something like the Daemons of X boxes for Kabals, Covens, and Wych Cults, but alas. The Shadowspear box continues the story of the Vigilus Campaign, the current Warhammer 40K Narrative that Games Workshop are running. Shadowspear includes a campaign booklet that details the ongoing story and details of the Nemendghast campaign of which Shadowspear is part of. The booklet includes a mini-campaign of 6 linked missions that can be played with your own forces, or the Historical Forces using the two armies in the box. The Campaign booklet also includes an Open Play mission and some narrative hooks for other missions. The Nurgle box is pretty good value. If you’re collecting Nurgle Daemons you want Plaguebearers and Nurglings en masse, and at least one Poxbringer too. If you’re going to buy those things, you might as well buy this box, and basically get the Plague Drones for free. A very respectable set which gives you pretty much what you want to get going with the faction – perfect.

At this point I would not get any short marines. Try to get hold of the primaris half of the starter instead. While most of this boxes units aren’t the state of the meta there are a few things you can do to get the most mileage possible out of your lads. Die Qualität des Kunststoffguss ist wie bei fast allen modernen Warhammer Sets einwandfrei. Gussgrate halten sich in Grenzen und Einzelteile passen perfekt aneinander. So I’m clumping both of these together because they are pretty much stripped down versions of DI box. Like the larger box they are both good to start with. First strike technically has no legal units in it though, so if you can spring for DI or Know No Fear instead, go for those. Alternative Option: Start Collecting! Primaris Space Wolves As the photo above should demonstrate, there are essentially no limits tothe best miniature paints and colour schemesto use when painting your Space Marine army. GW’s vast library of lore has fleshed out colours, insignia, and varying amounts of narrative detail for several dozen ofSpace Marine chapters – and if one of these catches your eye, go for it.

Start Collecting! Vanguard Space Marines

I’m going to roll ‘GW official’ successors that are literally just a name into this as it’s effectively just as much graft. Anyhow, my friend you are in for a doozy.
