About this deal

The Handles - At first the handles look flimsy but on the contrary they are actually sturdy and very comfortable to hold even when the mug is full of hot contents. The rounded edges and pinky notch complement fingers very pleasantly. They provide stability and a good grip. Even though they fold away nicely, the handles don’t shift around when they are out and in use. The TOAKS Titanium Pots are made from ultralight titanium which is corrosion-resistant and can last for years if looked after. As well as being incredibly light and durable, the pots have a useful feature set consisting of fold away handles, removable bail handle, internal graduation lines and lid with steam holes.

While “ceramic” implies a heavier weight to many people, the MSR Ceramic Solo Pot is surprisingly lightweight. In fact, at 7.5 oz, it is 1.2 oz lighter than the Halulite, the other hard-anodized aluminum cookware of the same size. It’s also a bigger pot than the Halulite, so well suited for two people. At 3.75 oz per person, it’s the same weight per person as our lightest weight option, the titanium Toaks 750 mL. Pros: The cookpot has been designed in such a way that it is successfully multipurpose. The 750ml capacity makes it big enough to cook enough food for a good meal but it’s not so large that it can’t also double as a (albeit large) mug for coffee breaks or an evening hot drink. This is achieved with the handles on the side of the pot that can fold out to make moving the pot from the stove easier and make it easy to drink from as a mug. Having an item that can double up like this is useful for people who want to reduce the amount of stuff they take with them as well as reduce their overall base weight.

Another nice feature of the Halulite is that it features liquid measuring lines that are visible on the inside and outside of the pot. They’re measured in ounces (oz) and mL so make it easy to add the correct amount of water to your freeze-dried meal.

To make our short list, all cookpots had to come with a lid, preferably with handles. We gave extra points to pots that had a way to secure their lid to the pot, at least while in transit if not during the cooking process. COOKING POT LIQUID QUANTITY gradation MARKINGS Aluminum is best for conducting heat (think simmering without burning the bottom of your pan). Even if you’re cooking soup, if it requires a simmer, the aluminum pot can usually handle that job better than titanium (which can get soup chunks burnt to the bottom of the pot). The ultralight titanium pot is perfect for long treks when every ounce of weight makes a difference! Ultralight titanium is corrosion-resistant and lasts for years. Rounded bottom edges make cleaning easy and improve heating efficiency . Handles fold away for compact storage . Titanium leaves no metalic smell or taste. What we don’t like: pricier than some pots, handles aren’t insulated, liquid measure lines not as intuitive as on other pots. The Lid - The vented lid eliminates any rolling boil guesswork, firing out steam when it’s time, much like a whistling tea kettle. The lid’s wire pull tab doesn’t get too hot to touch very easily but is adequately sized to allow assistance from a twig if it should be needed. While in theory having an item that doubles as a pot and a mug seems pretty great, it does have its downsides. You can’t have a hot drink while you’re waiting for your food to cook and you do need to ensure you’ve wiped the pot out thoroughly after cooking, so that the evening hot drink won’t have nice bits of food floating about in it. However, if you are the sort of person who’s using this item for its multi-functionality, then the chances are you’re not overly worried about these minor concerns. A lightweight cup can be easily obtained for people who do like to prepare a hot drink to have while they then cook their food. Note that like all titanium and aluminum cookware, MSR advises that you don’t want to put this one directly on a fire. What we like: even burn that can handle temperature differences for ACTUAL cooking, insulated lid and handle, durability, price

Graduation Marks - Gradation marks are etched into the cup’s side where they are labeled in milliliters and ounces. Lids also reduce splatter. While reducing splatter is a nice feature of a pot in a home kitchen, when you’re in bear country, it’s nice to keep all your smelly food on one pot instead of all over your camp. The Toaks Titanium 750 mL has foldaway handles and a pot lid that provide just enough easy gripping to get the job done without adding unnecessary weight. It fits a 110g fuel canister and a stove while its shape and size make it relatively durable for titanium cookware. Our 750ml nests well with your most important equipment, big enough to store our small wood stove, as well as a 100-g gas canister, or double-wall 450ml cup (more below). It can nest inside TOAKS Titanium 900ml D115mm Pot, Titanium 1000ml Pot, Titanium 1100ml Pot, Titanium 1100ml Pot with Bail Handle and Titanium 1100ml Pot with Pan Titanium and aluminum are lightweight, but can warp, dent, and scratch easily. This can really drive some people nuts.

The only complaint we’ve seen (and it’s true for most Titanium pots except for the MSR Titan) is that the lid doesn’t “snap” into the pot. The lid is fairly loose, which means it’s easy to pull it off. That can be a boon if you’d rather not burn yourself when removing a pot’s lid. But it also means that you’ll need care when draining water. External: 4 1/2" (115mm) (Diameter) X 4 3/8" (112mm) (H) (measured with lid and handles folded and bail handle) One issue we have with this pot are the measuring lines inside of the pot. They are visible and appear as three rows of spot welds. They are at the one two and three cup levels, but don’t have numbers or lines like other pots we tested. If you didn’t know, you’d think they are just weld spots. Different outdoors people have different Willingness to Carry Weight. That’s why we considered pots of different weights. If you’re car camping, you will likely have more burners available and should get as many pots as you have burners. You’ll also want plates, deep bowls, and mugs as well as a frying pan. For this story, we’re only considering cooking pots, although the GSI Pinnacle cookset that we recommend includes a pot, pan, plates, bowls, and mugs. One of the advantages of the Halulite over other anodized pots we considered is GSI’s thoughtful insulated handle system. Rubber-like insulation protects your hands from the heat when handling a hot stove. The TOAKS Titanium Pots are made from ultralight titanium which is corrosion-resistant and can last for years if looked after. As well as being incredibly light and durable, the pots have a useful feature set consisting of fold away handles, internal graduation lines and lid with steam holes.
