About this deal

Our Take: Based on Bernhard Aichner’s novel of the same name, it seems that Woman Of The Dead is a fairly straightforward small-town-with-secrets thriller, but with characters who have some interesting personality quirks. Those quirks, of course, start with Blum herself; her relationship with Mark is wrapped up in the tragedy that killed her parents, so there’s all sorts of implications in his death. And when her mind wanders as she works to prepare corpses for their funerals, it really wanders. As Blum probes deeper into the case, getting into increasingly dangerous situations, we wonder if the quirks are going to even out and give way to the thriller aspect of the series. We hope it doesn’t. The quirks are there to help make the characters something other than archetypes, and they don’t have to be at all intrusive to be effective. Woman of The Dead Filming Locations- Where was Woman of The Dead filmed? Woman of The Dead Filming Locations You’ll see the lengths someone will go to for vengeance, and it does become a tug-of-war between good and evil for our main character. But it never becomes unrealistic. Not to me, in any case. Prepare to want to binge-watch all six 45-minute episodes. You’re in for one very wild and deadly ride. Even the intro is gorgeous! What Is Woman of The Dead about?

Parting Shot: When Blum tells Dunja that Mark is dead and asks her how they know each other, Dunja cries and tells Blum she shouldn’t be involved. They’re at the edge of a cliff, and Dunja ends up embracing Blum in a spate of hopelessness. Woman of the Dead is based on the female-driven revenge novel “Totenfrau” by Bernhard Aichner. The adaption into this Netflix series comes from Barbara Stepansky ( Outlander) and Wolfgang Mueller & Benito Mueller. The two latter have produced more than written in the past. Production credits include The Whistleblower (2010) and Das Boot series. He portrays the grieving widow Blum in Anna Maria M, who embarks on the monumental job of revealing the horrible secrets that have been kept buried. Mark is portrayed by Maximilian Kraus. The hunter becomes the hunted, but those she is chasing, grossly underestimate Blum. Much in the style of South Korean stories, Woman of the Dead is full of flawed and realistic characters. And this definitely goes for Blum as well, which makes the story work so much better. Anna Maria Mühe is perfect as Blum
